Hey all, new here but am desperately seeking some info from the original series. I need to locate an episode that contains the exchange between Scotty and Captain Kirk. Preaching Sunday, tomorrow, and want to use that as part of my message.

Any help locating a specific episode with that verbiage would be greatly appreciateProbably quickest to reply to jsrodulski@gmail.com if you have any ideas.

I'm actually beginning to think that's one of those "beam me up, Scotty"/"Play it again Sam" lines...the ones that never actually were said. I did some Googling and the closest lines I can find are:

SCOTT: Coming, sir. If I push these impulse engines too hard in the condition they're in, they'll blow apart.

The line is from Star Trek 2009. I don't believe the exact wording was ever used in TOS - neither the series, nor the movies.

It's not TOS, or even anything official, but Scotty does say "I'm Giving Her all she's got Captain!" in How it Should have Ended's parody of the last movie.

You're right. Overnight, I thought some more, and realized that Scott had a variation of another semi-iconic line. It was something like: "The crystals can't take much more of this."

This seems to spring from Scotty's general panicky attitude when they exceed warp 6 or whatever. He'd pipe off with some "if we stay at warp 6 the engines will blow up, cap'n!" overdrama, and that became part of his pop culture persona. So he's not being quoted, just mocked for his panic.

There's no such line in Trek V at all. The vaguely closest thing is, "We'll beat those Klingon devils, even if I have to get out and push."

In the previews for Trek 6 (not the teaser with the archival footage), Scotty looks at a console during the attack and says "she cannot take much more of this!" In the film itself, I think all he says is "she's packing quite a whallop! Shields weaking!" It's been a little while since I've seen it though.

Whoops. Well, there's no such line in IV as released, albeit the script reads:

SCOTTY'S VOICE
I don't think she'll hold together,
sir!

During the first time warp, but that entire exchange didn't make the final edit.
