Harry Morgan, RIP

CBS Radio reporting at the top of this hour that Harry Morgan (Dragnet, M.A.S.H.) has died.

RIP Mr. Morgan, I really only knew you as Col. Potter, but thanks for all the laughs. I've been known to drop the occasional "Horse Hockey!"

I think Harry Morgan saved Mash and made it last for another good many years. The buck stopped at his desk. He was wonderful in the way he offset all the other loonies. He was their anchor. Anchors away. Bon Voyagee.. old pal.

Buddy Ebson died in 2003 at 95; Harry out lived him by a year.

Been watching Dragnet of late on the Antenna TV channel.

Morgan is really good at being the "side-kick" to Webb. He spends a lot of time just kind of standing there while Webb monologs on and on, but gets at least one good light-hearted bit of action per episode. Makes his presence felt, but doesn't ever outshine the star of the show.

Loved watching him in reruns of Dragnet and M*A*S*H, where he easily defined the word "droll" as Colonel Potter.

To be fair, I think Ackroyd's Friday was perfect. It was just in a bad movie.

Agreed. Ackroyd's performance is great. Just a really bad script/story.

He was one of those actors who was marvelous in everything they were in. His performances in Support Your Local Sheriff and Support Your Local Gunfighter are some of my personal favorites.
RIP to a fine actor who will be fondly remembered.

I knew he wasn't long for this world when I last checked the M*A*S*H "Where Are They Now" website. He was looking real old at 96.

A great actor who will be sorely missed.
