The annual what do you want for Christmas thread

For the heating to work, the drink and food to be in plentiful supply, no snow storms, no visitors, no-one at the door, something watchable on television or enough DVD's to last if not, a lie in, etc

The same as every year, I want nothing.

This is usually the case for me (multi-million surprise bank deposit excepted; are you listening, Lottery Gods?), but this year I actually have a couple of things I haven't got round to buying for myself yet and might see if I can get them for Christmas instead. One of them is an unlocked Nokia Lumia 800.

Peace and quiet, without having to die to get it.

With that username, I can understand your desire around this time of year... ;)

While I was home for Thanksgiving, my mother gave me two options for Christmas:

1) a new mattress for my bed
2) a trip to the eye doctor and a new pair of glasses and/or contacts

I want neither.

To spend some actual time with my nieces and nephew, not just cleaning up after them or driving them around. To have some actual fun with my family and not just be a servant to them. It would be nice if someone actually asked about me, as a person, instead my being just a babysitter and assistant. But I might as well ask for World Peace while I'm at it. Since I'm the only one without kids, I somehow automatically become the babysitter, maid, cook, chauffeur for everyone, including my elderly parents. It never occurs to anyone that I might want to do something on the holiday. But, since I don't have kids and I'm not divorced, I'm somehow responsible for making their lives easier during the time everyone is together.

Hell, I'd be happy to just spend some one on one time with my nieces and nephew (versus just being a walking wallet to buy them things), and maybe get some new clothes as gifts. That would do just fine.

I kind of already got what I was wishing for yesterday: the show I work on got another ten episodes ordered for this season, thereby insuring my continued employment (with insurance, whew!) through at least till the end of June. If I'm being selfish, I'd also like an iPad.

A chance to not be single anymore would be nice.

You have numerous chances every day to make that happen.

Maybe you can, assuming your niece and nephew's parents are cool with it, give them the "gift" of a "day with AuntieHill" where you can do all these things?

^I have tried that. No one was terribly interested. I have even been told that my "job" is to take them places and buy them things, or stay home and watch the toddler, so the older kids can play video games all day and my other two sisters can go out. I don't mind helping out, but I'd rather volunteer than just be expected to do it.

Might as well take her up on the offer though. Better free stuff you don't want, than nothing at all! It's the American Way. :D

I appreciate, there may be resultant fireworks when selecting this option. :D

A lifetime supply of white cafe mocha and pandoro (I'll also be needing plenty of stretch outfits).

Pandoro is pleasant but Panettone is perfect!

First one with "Two Front Teeth". :mallory:

Overdone? :alienblush:

In all honesty, nothing; at least not for myself. I'm happy, healthy, have a loving family, good friends and the best pooches in the world. I couldn't want anything more ..., except for the same for everyone else. :)

Lets see... Bagger 288, a Moog Modular System 55, Moog Modular system 3C, Eminent 310U, Electro Harmonix Small Stone Phaser, Logan String Melody II, Oberheim OB-X, Minimoog, Moog Taurus I, Elka Synthex, EMS VCS3, AKS, Korg Minipops, ARP 2500 with extension cabinets, ARP 2600, Korg PS 3300, PPG 300 Modular aaaaaaaaaaand a mellotron.. :p

For people who like candied citrus fruits, it's probably heavenly - never managed to like citrus in my desserts though, although I don't mind fresh oranges and lemons. I'm in the minority I think, the Panettone seems to be sold more commonly at all the supermarkets. Managed to track down pandoros at Waitrose and got charged a healthy £8.99, till I discovered it at Lidl for £3.99 whilst traveling... I took a gamble thinking the flavour wouldn't be as good - but it was identical, perhaps better. Quite the difference. So much for "Never knowingly undersold".

I want a Dave Dravecky throwback jersey. (I'm not a Giants fan, I just consider Dave my favorite baseball player of all time.)

For my brother to come to dinner sober just one fucking time. It upsets my girlfriend, and pisses me off.

One Christmas dinner without having to call 911, that's all I ask.

Never thought I'd say this, but clothes. I've lost weight this year and most of my wardrobe no longer fits me.

I'd also like some cash so I can buy books on Amazon, but that can wait until my birthday in January. Right now I'd like to walk around in clothes that don't hang on me like a tent.
