Prometheus: Ridley Scott returns to Sci-Fi

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

I'm certainly intrigued by what i've heard and seen so far. Although am i the only one who thought "Incoming message from the Big Giant Head!" when they saw those promo pictures?

For a second, I thought it was Sharon Stone.

Not really getting why (presumably) the space-jockey aliens would carve such an artefact. I guess all will be revealed on release (or leaked shortly beforehand). If the SJAs created the xenomorph aliens to serve as a biological weapon, what was their intention when they tinkered with man's biology to increase his intelligence? Were they also responsible for meddling with the predators' evolution as evinced by the two variants that we saw in the last movie?

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

They all looked the same in the last movie.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

I think you might be mistaken.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

Can't wait to see a full image of Charlize Theron in that suite

No they didnt, there were two types of Predator in Predators.

A smaller Predator that looked like the creatures from the past films, and a group of much larger Predators with larger mandibles.

Sorry I didn't read the post properly. I thought we were talking about aliens. It's sort of an easy mistake to make, given it's a completely different franchise and all.

Ah that makes more sense :D, although the last film to feature aliens did have two types as well. But since that was a terrible sequel to the terrible Aliens Vs. Predator, i think it's best ignored.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

They ought to have remained separate franchises - unfortunately, there was cross pollination. I blame Monsanto...

The xenomorph aliens, of course, tend to acquire some of the genotype of whatever creature gets impregnated by a face hugger. I think that's how it works.

I dont mind the franchises being linked, i just think they ought to have hired a director capable of producing a decent film.

Unfortunately they gave it to Paul WS "How can i shoehorn my wife into this while crapping over an established franchise" Anderson.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

I'm also very concerned about the Alien movie tie-in aspect of this film. I would prefer no connection between them.

Most images look very cool, but that giant head makes me concerned. Is this going to be some sort of bizarre alien origin story? That does not excite me.

Otherwise I'm anticipating this project.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

Secretly I think Ridley Scott wants to tie Blade Runner,Alien and Prometheus into one big "Ridley Scott Universe"

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

Why? There is no reason a creative person like himself would want to write himself into a corner. It's a bad idea.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

^ There's a lot of room to 'play' even when/if all three of those films share a universe. There's no reason it should be limiting if the writer is good enough.

Worked for the Tommy Westphall-verse, didn't it? ;)

I think you might be bang on the money with this one. Also, I do wonder how much of the 'Alien' will be incorporated into the story.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

So is this thread going to be the 'Prometheus, News, Images Til Release Page'? Let me know, because I can assure you how crazy I will become here if so! ;)

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

This thread is way overdue for renaming if this is the case.
