Why didn't Theiss find a shirt that photographed green, then.

So I look on TrekCore and the collars in WNMHGB are definitely green. The shirts even are kinda greenish.

YET, those are remastered and the color might have been tweaked to be green because of the green-believers. HMM . . .

Do you think that professionals doing color correction base their work on the desire to adjust single elements based on some personal prejudice about what they "ought" to look like?

That's a fannish thing.

And in how many non-Firefly related productions so far has Serenity showed up in the background? Or the Millennium Falcon in something not Star Wars?

It takes off from the platform added to the upper right and flies away.

Aha - I see it in a screencap at TrekCore. Thanks. I thought it was a little more prominent. I just missed it. It's just a shout out to TOS?

Okay, now I am really confused, so I will add to the confusion. :)

What color were the Command Tunics worn in the DS9 episode "Trials and Tribble-ations"? Sisko says command officers wore gold, so were they in fact gold or were they green that appeared gold on film?

The problem is all those years of those tunics looking gold on screen.

And, let's be fair, they are kind of a greenish gold. The part that's under debate is how much green and how much gold.

The command shirts are Martian material. John Carter (of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novels) says that the Barsoomian spectrum has a couple of colors never seen by earth people. One of these must be yeenish-grellow, which looks either yellow or green to terrestrial eyes in roughly 50-50 proportions.

;)

Rig a special slide projector using white light on a white screen and try to photograph (digitally or otherwise) the image from the screen, maybe. That would require some experimenting to get right. I've no idea how to certify the correctness of the colors though.

I'd be concerned that heat from the slide projector light might damage the frames though.

Just a random thought; I've no idea if this is feasible.

The projector option is easy enough; just need to get a ViewMaster projector off of eBay.

In the meantime, Kail may be the guy to talk to. Thanks.
