^Jeez, you guys are good at catching these background ponies. I'l have to go back and check for them when a higher-quality rip come out.
As for the episode....ugh. It's getting a lot of love on EqD, but I don't see why. In a 22-minute time slot, they had to pad the story with minutes and minutes of Applebloom showing off. Some of the gags were good (loved Spike crushing on Twilight's Rarity hairdo), but this was about the least story and character-driven episode so far this season. Other than Applebloom's distress (which lasted about five minutes), there wasn't any character conflict to speak of. This was one of the rare instances where I really was aware I was watching a little kid's cartoon.
And, I mean, seriously. They padded the episode to fill the run time. On a show that usually has to rush through things in to fit them in. Oh well. I guess they can't all be winners.
Love the threadbomb, J..
Well, it's true that there wasn't as much plot as in previous episodes but the Cutie Mark Crusaders are so cute that I didn't mind. I also liked the gags. And we got Zecora, too. A filler episode, but a very enjoyable one, I thought.
Well, that sucked. 22 minutes of watching Apple Bloom perform stunts while the whole town acted out of character. When AB's teacher told the class to take the day off to watch AB's hula-hooping I figured AB had a spell cast on her fake cutie mark, but nope, it was all real. Apparently kids can shut down a school by playing a game during recess -- who knew? The jokes fell flat and the plot was non-existent. It was nice to see Zecora again, but that's about it.
I give it a D.
Well, I can't really answer for Kelthaz, but as far as I'm concerned, how willing I am to suspend disbelief is directly related to how worthwhile I think the results of that suspension are. There've been lots of times on this show where some conceit has made me raise an eyebrow or two, but usually the payoff wins me over or makes me understand why they chose to do something a certain way.
This time, I just thought the schoolyard hula-hooping scene was five minutes and twenty seconds of horrible. (And, yes, I timed it. Threadbomb notwithstanding, they padded the hell out that scene.) It was a scene needed only to establish Applebloom's new "talent," yet the writers dragged it on forever and ever; I didn't find it funny, interesting or necessary. The fact that they had to bend plausibility to the breaking point to get us there just added insult to injury. That, IMO, is the source of the objection.
So, yeah, I really hated this episode. Which is rare for MLP, but I guess it had to happen some time.
"Adding harmless fun to injury" doesn't have quite the same ring, though.YMMV, of course, but insult? Nah. Just harmless fun.
