I'm pretty sure that Stick trained that Batman-influenced super hero - Iron Man.

Alan Silvestri will be scoring 'The Avengers.'

It was just a rumor before, but now it's confirmed. I think his score for TFA was the best of all the MCU scores so far, so I'm happy. :techman:

Excellent. I enjoyed his "Captain America: The First Avenger" score so am looking forward to hearing his score for "Avengers" next year.

Is The Incredible Hulk worth seeing?

I've seen the other films that tie into The Avengers, so I do kind of want to see the Hulk. But since Norton isn't reprising the role I'm not sure I want to get vested in his performance knowing he won't be in this film.

It is, I just rewatched it over the weekend. I really like the movie as a whole and outside of, again, not giving a fully vocalized character portrayal to the Hulk the film is a vast improvement over the Ang Lee '03 version.

I actually just re-watched it last night. While it is worth watching, it's not as good as Iron Man, Thor or Captain America.

It seemed to me that Marvel was attempting to cash in on people familiarity with the old TV show in several spots. The origin sequences used a similar gamma-gizmo to zap Banner, the quick flash of Bill Bixby in The Courtship of Eddie's Father, the quick use of the show's theme, and of course Lou Ferigno as the security guard and voice of Hulk.

I think the Ang Lee version only being five years in the past was the reason why they decided against doing an "origin" movie, instead re-capping the origin in the opening credits sequence, and just went right into the story, which worked in the movie's favor.

The connections to the other Marvel movies are there, the version of the Super-Soldier serum given to Blonsky is the same deep blue color as the one used on Steve Rogers, the use of SHIELD and Stark tech, the blink-and-you-miss-it nod to Nick Fury in the opening credits, not to mention...

... the appearance of Tony Stark himself in the stinger.

Unlike the other Marvel movies, the stinger is right at the end of the movie, rather than at the end of the credits, so there is no need to sit through them. However, I would recommend going on YouTube right after finishing The Incredible Hulk and watching "Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant", which makes for a nice companion to the stinger.

I really enjoyed "The Incredible Hulk". It is certainly worth seeing in my opinion.

This thread has been surprisingly lacking in fan-girly squee from what I've read so far (haven't read every single post of all 66 pages though!) - so I've come into lower the tone a bit (Robert Downey Jr is looking fine... :alienblush:)

Anyway... I'm not used to getting interested in a movie this early because I'm not at the cinema much to see trailers these days. When would you guys expect there to be a new trailer - Thanksgiving? Christmas? Not until next year?

Since we got the first trailer last month, I don't expect a second trailer until the new year sometime.

    *sad face*

Actually I thought the first one had been out longer, if it's only been since October then next year makes sense.

I'll join you in this regard!!! (Love your av, btw)

Back on track...Really looking forward to this. I have to admit, when this was first announced, I thought it was going to be an absolute disaster, but after seeing the trailers, my tune has changed quite a bit. It looks incredible.

Actually, both Hulk movies are worth seeing, if by "worth seeing" one means that there is something to be gained by watching them. They each have good things about them, but they also both have bad things about them. I can't say I was really happy with either one. I honestly can't even say that TIH is significantly better than Ang Lee's. If you go by RT and Metacritic, TIH is slightly better. TIH should have been much, much better.

 I was the same - especially when I realised Joss Whedon was writing and directing (don't get me started on Serenity!) - but I am really looking forward to it now!

Part of the problem with the Hulk movies is that they seem to draw from two sources-the comics and the TV show, which are both very distinct from one another. Sure, both have the scientist who transforms into a big green guy when enraged, but other than that they're different in tone. Hulk comics are more like your regular superhero comics, with fantastic opponents, a mostly fixed supporting cast (Although they've pretty much all been hulked up themselves recently) weird storylines and decades of continuity and retcons (Banner's tragic past-even before his transformation is one such retcon that Ang Lee used with some modifications). The Hulk

The Hulk TV show, however, is largely a Fugitive type show with some action. The only other major cast member is the reporter Mcgee. No Betty, Ross, Rick Jones etc. Banner is also more heroic, hardly the puny weakling we get from the comics.

Not that there's anything wrong with either approach, just when you attempt to mix them together you get mixed results. Even the comics tried this somewhat with the Bruce Jones issues, which had Banner on the run and the Hulk only appearing a few times. The run got mixed reviews and was largely retconned out of continuity. (Although it did inspire elements of the Ed Norton film).

When I said "worth it" I meant in the sense that I would get something out of it. Anyways, as soon as I have the chance I'm going to watch it.

Also, in preparation for the film I'm interested in boning up on some Avenger's adventures via the comics, so what are some good trades to look into?
