2011 NFL Season - A New Game

Rivers isn't necessarily overrated, it's more that the Chargers are a ridiculously inept organization, and his supporting cast is ... for the most part, mediocre at best, outside of Jackson and Gates.

The big problem there is Norv.

I've always thought Rivers was overrated. The media always wants to heap praise on him, though. His stats are good, but, he doesn't ever seem to win.
Oh, I hate the guy.

I hate the whole team.

I'm disappointed that they are the closest team to where I live.

The last NFL game I attended was watching the Chargers beat (my) Indianapolis Colts in overtime in the playoffs in '09. The San Diego fans treated me absolutely horribly*, and my only crime was wearing a Colts jersey. I'd have hated to find out how I would have been treated had the Colts actually won the game. I never saw any Colts fans treat visiting fans that way back when I lived in Indiana.

We're talking: beer spilled on us, things thrown at us, had a guy in my face threatening me while I was in line buying nachos "get the f*** out of my stadium!", etc.

Well spank me rosey..... not only did Denver win, but we actually looked good for most of it! Tebow still had some issues, but he's finally showed some improvement over the last couple weeks. Some of the playcalling was still a little painfully conservative at times, but considering what Tebow did with the shots he got, I'll definitely take it. McGahee was a monster on the ground- oh, how I've missed having a real running back! Our Pass defense was having some issues, but they stood up when it counted. And of course, it's always a great day when we beat the God Damn Raiders. :)

Pretty much every team has its scumbag contingent. I imagine even the Colts. San Diego really isn't too bad in my experience, there are a few wannabe gangsters, and drunken trash. But in general it's a laid back town.

Today was perfectly fine in regards to fans, but I suppose since there were probably 30,000 Packers fans in the stadium those kinds of cowards just kind of crawl under their rocks.

Pretty funny at the end when the Chargers are trying to tie it up, Clay Matthews is waving for the crowd to get loud, and the home team Chargers are forced to go to their silent count

Did I drop acid, or are the Giants and Patriots really scoreless at the half?

4th and long, this really is the game right here...YEAH! TD Gronk! Tom Terrific does it again!

5 minutes later...

NOT AGAIN! NOOOOOOOO!

I felt like I got sodomized by the goal post.

That cushy MNF game against the lowly Chiefs is not looking so certain right now. Also, KC: Nice job bending over yesterday against Miami and totally fucking me in my confidence pool.

I pick games at work on Friday morning in about 5 minutes. My FIL, who invited me into the pool, wrote a complex algorithm to predict picks. (He writes code for a living, can't blame him.) I had been pwning him until now. I must beat him.

And this week, you'll get to beat the Goddamn Chiefs. Thank God I'll be deer hunting.

What in the Chiefs play makes you worried about them? See below:

Ouch. I could have told you not to do that. I saw this loss coming a mile away. Didn't expect them to get totally spanked like that, but I did know they'd lose. It was pre-ordained.

Who said the Chiefs' play worried me...The Pats could give up 40 against Foxborough High School right now.

The Chiefs scored 3 points against the 0-7 Dolphins. Your Patriots won't have any problem with that. Simply rush Casshole. He can't do anything under pressure.

The Pats have reached a point where the Krafts need to sack up and tell Belichick to get a defensive coordinator who will actually disagree with him once in a while.

I mean, I'm at the point where I can easily imagine the radio conversations going like this:

Coach Belichick, I think we need to turn up the pressure.

I agree! Blitz Vrabel up the gap next to Seymour!

Sur--I mean, wait, what?

DO NOT QUESTION ME, ROMEO CRENNEL! IS BRUSCHI SUITED UP?

I ... yes, sir.

Monday morning before work while my wife and I are getting ready for work, during some combination of shaving, showering, and hair drying, we have more riveting football talk than anything on the Sunday morning pregame shows.

She made the same impassioned plea for a DC as you just did. A GM wouldn't be so bad either.

I think they are individally talented enough on D, but lack cohesion. They have struck out in the draft other than Mayo, Chung, and McCourty in recent years. Hang onto one of those fucking 1st rounders for once and draft a pass rusher capable of murdering a QB.

Plus, for the 1st time in a while, the O-line inhales meat whistle.

I'm not a huge Patriots fan, but I do enjoy watching Brady do his thing. Far as I can tell, the Pats have two huge problems: Belichick has ignored the pass rush for years, and instead continues to stock the defensive line with mediocre interior linemen, and he seems to have completely blown up the safety positions and filled them with special teamers who would barely rank as second-stringers on most other teams.

The Packers always seem to have a large contingent of fans for their road games.

Loved seeing the Packers win, but their defense has been horrid this year. They give up way too many big plays and don't seem to have the killer instinct needed to close the door on opposing teams. I'd love to see them go undefeated, but the way their defense has been playing, I don't see that happening.

This has probaably been my worst year ever for pick'em boards (and fantasy teams, for that matter). No such thing as a sure-fire pick this year.

The Packers' pass rush off the line is pretty anemic, which is forcing Dom Capers to blitz a lot more than he'd like. That, combined with not having Nick Barnett and Cullen Jenkins and a secondary that is not at all adept at actually covering receivers, is really forcing the offense to play lights-out. They won't be able to keep it up forever.

Philip Rivers must be channeling his inner Office Space right about now...

Ever since I started working, every day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.

Hoping the bad Eagles and not the good ones show up tonight against the Bears.

The bad Eagles didn't show up...the AWFUL Eagles did instead.

That was some seriously uninspired football on their part. Coupled with a solid Bears' performance on the road, the outcome was a lot more obvious than I thought it would be.

I had a 20 point lead going into tonight with his defense (Eagles) and Vick going. I expected to lose and I ended up winning the week. Very happy about that, and the Eagles lose which is always a good thing.

Tonight ended a streak of 29 straight games in which Cutler was sacked at least once. Cutler didn't go down at all tonight. Big props to their O-line, especially Lance Louis, who was kicking Justin Babin's ass all game.

Isnt it about time Andy Reid gets fired. How long can a coach fail and not get the boot. This team isnt going to win anything if they cant even lay a hand on Cutler. Poor coaching for a big game. But then Reid has always been out coached in big games.
