40 and Over Club

i was sad to hear of Andy Rooney's passing. He's the main reason I watched 60 Minutes for years.

RIP, Andy Rooney. :(

I do remember the TZ opening theme seriously freaked me out.

My favorite version of the show itself is the 80's version . .
SACRILEGE and HERESY! The ’80s Twilight Zone was a pale imitation of the original.
Actually, I thought the 80s version was a worthy follow-on, although it would certainly be nearly impossible to match the original.

Miss Chicken, i can't believe you mentioned the Manson Murders. They scared the living shit out of me even though i was on the other side of the US (and YOU on the other side of the world!). That frightened me like i can't even tell you.

And the movie Dr Terror's House of Horrors. OMG, it's laughable now but as a child? That movie just freaked me out!

Remember those rather graphic safety movies in the mid-70s about the dangers of playing near railway lines?

OR the ones about driving safety. Red Asphalt, Blood on the Highway, Brains on the Bumper, that type of thing.

LOL--Brains on the Bumper. We had to watch an old film strip that had the color (blood) painted on, but it was really horrible with things like little kids who had been scraped along a wall by a car, etc.

What really scared the socks off me when I was little was the original Wolfman movie. And the original Disney Shaggy Dog movie.

oops, almost forgot:

- The original The Howling.

- The ending of The Black Hole where we literally see the bad guy end up in hell

When I was a kid I used to have nightmares where I was sucked into those HUGE overhead air vents that they used in US Kmart stores.

They flying monkey thingies used to scare me in "Wizard of Oz." Come to think of it, they still do!

When Iw as a very little girl, about 4 years old, I was quite scared of grumpy Blackboard in Mr Squiggle.

Does anyone remeber the ultra violet light toilet seats? I still get shivers when I think about that.
Can't recall ever seeing such a thing. Did they glow in the dark?

They glowed in the daytime with an erie blue/purple color. They were contained in a U-shaped lid that covered the toilet seat with the idea that UV would sterilize it between uses. Vandalism ended that brief idea.
