What no Arkham City Thread?

Ok guys need your help. I'm told by the guide I have that I need 400 Riddler secrets to open the final mission with Riddler. I have two riddles and 3 demon seals in Wonder Tower to get, and that's it. When I get these, I'll only have 383 secrets. According to the menu for the Riddler secrets, I have every other one that's available to Batman in every single area, from Park Row to Wonder City and everything in between. All the trophies, all the riddles, all the breakable items (cameras, balloons, etc). All of it, again according to the ? menu.

So what's the deal? Do I have to have Catwoman trophies too? That seems so unreasonable since her part of the game is extra DLC. But if it's not the Catwoman trophies, what the hell else can it be?

Luckily the Catwoman trophies are easier to get, I just finished getting all the trophies myself, I left hers for last since they were easier to get - and weren't that many compared to Batman.

So what if a person didn't do the Catwoman DLC? Are they just SOL on finishing the Riddler side mission? If so, that's really screwed up.

ETA: What I'm learning is, there should be 400 "Riddler Secrets" without the Catwoman DLC (that adds 40 more), but what and where the other 17 are, I'll be damned if I know.

ETA: I'm hearing more info that the "physical challenges" (such as gliding 250 meters without touching down) are actually part of the 400 Riddler Secrets. I'm thinking good grief, they really are going out of their way to be annoying aren't they. I finally fought though the remote control batarang trophies that I DESPISE just to find out that it's STILL not enough. F U Rocksteady!

I didn't really want to bother with the Catwoman trophies but it's beats the alternative of trying all those physical challenges.

You know, it really shouldn't be this hard just to get to a playable mission in a game.

^ I haven't got that far yet (close) but one thing I'm not sure of is if the physical challenges count toward that. Are you taking those into account?

Edit: oops see you addressed that

Yeah I would have never guessed that's what it was, although in thinking about it now, I guess it seems obvious. DUH. I've completed a few of them in the course of playing the game, but when I've deliberately set out to beat one, I can't seem to pull it off.

One thing that just occurred to me, if I go after the Catwoman trophies, at least there shouldn't be any of those goddammned RC batarang challenges.

True. Most of Catwoman's trophies are just the red question marks scattered over the city.

Actually, I kind of like that there are so many Riddler challenges and things going on in this game. I have currently taken a break to play "Uncharted 3," but I like knowing that if I want to, I can just pop in Arkham City and do a couple side missions or hunt for Riddler trophies with no real sense of urgency to finish. I don't play a lot of video games, and I'm really not looking forward to any new ones for a while, so I am going to get a lot of gameplay out of this one.

Yeah, most just require either climbing under something, or are out in the open. I think a couple were hidden behind breakable walls that Batman needs to destroy, but sadly I can't even remember right now.

I'm kind of opposite in that Modern Warfare 3 comes out next week, and I know I'll be pretty much playing that exclusively. So I've been putting a lot of time into this game, going for Riddler trophies and mostly enjoying it (except for the aforementioned goddamned RC Batarang trophies :klingon: :scream: ), in hopes of having it wrapped up before next Tuesday.

That's why I'm irritated to learn that after putting that work and time on solving riddles and getting these trophies, that I'm STILL short of being able to get the final Riddler mission.

I think I only have about 50 Riddler trophies so far, so I'm not even close to being done.

I do admit that the Riddler stuff is pretty over the top this time around.

Yeah they ran the gambit from some being remarkably easy to several being "How in the frak do I do that?" MOST of them were fun, but a few . . . not so much.

Which I think compounds my irritation over the 400 secrets and the physical challenges. I finally beat those "not so much fun " trophies and felt like I accomplished something, only to find out, nope sorry, not good enough.

i'm on my last riddler trophy (still have to complete the challenges though) and it should be one of the easier ones. all i had to do was glide between three towers to hit the pressure pads on each one but i keep messing it up. maybe if i do some grapple boost...

You know those are trickier than what they seem like they should be. If It's the one I'm thinking of, I think you definitely want to use grapnel boost to get it.

This might be obvious but I didn't catch on right away, if you doubletap the action button when you hit the pads Batman will turn away and leap nicely towards another direction.

Well LOL @ me. After me bitching and whining about getting enough Riddler secrets to open up the final Riddler mission, I spent tonight doing a couple of physical challenges and collecting Catwoman trophies until I finally got the final Riddler mission opened up. Totally and completely anti-climatic and definitely not worth effort. Go figure.

ETA: BTW does anybody know where in the hell you can get high enough to perform the "Dive 50 Meters" challenge?

Reminds me about the Spirit of Arkham thing from Asylum where they make it sound like some big final confrontation and then you just get some floor carvings.

Lame. After the anti-climactic end to the Riddler challenge in the first game, I would have thought they'd up the ante a bit this time around.

I'm guessing Wonder Tower. It's the highest point in the game map.

That was my thought too, but when I got up there and tried it, you can only go so far before it automatically brings you back up. It's like when you fall in the water, it automatically grapnels you back up.

i got the 50 meter dive by jumping off the faris wheel into the water nearby.

Ok, I'll try that one. Thanks.

I haven't been playing, but I've been hanging out with my roommate, helping him figure out Riddler trophies and offering suggestions on random things when he gets stuck. Today "we" got all 440 trophies and did all the combat challenges, but we're still only at 73%! Apparently you have to get a ton of achievements as Batman, Catwoman, Robin, AND Nightwing before you can achieve 100%. Seems pretty ridiculous to me.
