Ultimate Fury's always been black. he just didn't look like SLJ until Ultimates. when he first appeared in Ultimate Marvel Team-Up and Ultimate X-Men, he was basically just a black guy and had hair. it was Ultimates #2 when he first appeared looking like SLJ and bald.

well I think I can speak for all of us (expect maybe A beaker full of death) when I say, "that was dreadful" that is not only an awful movie, but an awful trailer.

We really dont know that much about SLJs Nick Fury, but im going to stick my neck out and say that SLJs Nick Fury is already better than the Hoffs.

Yeah the Hoff movie was just dreadful. I believe that it was wildly reported when "Avengers" was first announced that we would get some back story details on Fury. There is also the possibility that they will explore this in the still in development solo film.

whilst I suppose its logical for Fury not to take any screentime away from the hero in their first movie, since its about the hero, I think its fair to expect some real screentime for Fury in Avengers.

Especially considering he is in charge of the project. I suspect that until Steve, Tony, and Thor are able to learn to work together and trust each other and one of these emerges as the leader Fury will be front and centre.

agreed, the team needs time to build, and the only person Tony and Steve is going to trust is Fury. Thor will respect him as leader of SHIELD. So he should be in at least half the movie, holding the team together.

The Hoff as Fury was fine. It just needed a better script..and isn't 77 % Certified Fresh? :) I just like saying that.

So let me get this straight.

In The Avengers, Black Widow will be played by a flat-chested geriatric, and she'll wear a hacked-together costume that doesn't even remotely look like the one in the comics, because the movie makers find comic books embarrassing?

Oh, and Captain America's costume sucked in the opinion of some people who didn't see Captain America: The First Avenger?

I'm convinced. I'm staying home.

Would it help Beaker's opinion at all if Joss Whedon was a huge comic book fan and knew exactly what he was doing? I'm guessing not.

Dude - you might be revealing a little too much about your tastes if you think a 26 year old woman is a 'geriatric'. I don't think your em.. specialist tastes will be served well in a main-stream movie or indeed any movie legally released in the western world.

One of the common complaints that people post is that "so and so is too old". The opposite of "too old" is "not too old". My only intention was to express that SJ is not too old, her breasts are fine, her costume is A-OK, as is cap's. K?
