Is it weird to like The Fight? lol..

Fleet Captain
I didn't think it was that bad an episode, and at least to some extent it expanded on Chakotay's native American roots.

Is that the one where Chakotay befriends a Kazon boy played by Aaron Eisenberg? Kind of like a reverse of the TNG episode with Picard and the kid raised by the warlike aliens?

I can't say I was a big fan of that one.

Ah well, I'm out of my depth then. I'll save further comment for when I've seen the episode in question!

Don't waste your time! Or maybe watch it on fastforward with subtitles like I did the first time I ever saw it.

That was an awful episode, made only slightly more bearable by virtue of the comedic value of seeing how hard everyone involved in the production works to make sure Chakotay does not have to show his naked torso on camera.

When he's boxing, he wears not one, but TWO t-shirts (I guess just in case of a wardrobe malfunction with one). In one intense scene where Boothby's giving him a shirtless backrub, he gets up (shot from the back) and starts to run. In the next scene he's running through the ship...wearing two t-shirts again.

Then there's the fact that "light" heavyweight Chak has at least 50 pounds on the guy he's fighting. And the stupid alliterative nicknames ("the Maquis Mauler").

It's pretty funny, actually. But absolutely dreadful.

The only other redeeming quality is that this episode proved that, in Trek canon, a place in the 24th century named "Vegas" still existed and was a center for sports betting.

Even though, supposedly, they'd gone far beyond the need for money.

The fight reminds me of an awful sexist excuse for a joke.

What do you tell a woman with two black eyes?

...

Make love not war.

Now, what if Chakotay and his sparring partner started doing it?

Surely one form of physical interaction is as good as another because fighting can sometimes just be like sex just like sex is just like fighting sometimes.

Bring it down a level?

What about salsa dancing?

Still guy on guy though.

Guy on Guy?

I haven't done Guy on Guy in weeks.

I am so old I don't find myself sexy anymore.

:(

awful episode. Down in the bottom five. An attempt at high concept that just comes across as muddled and boring. I'll take "threshold" over "the fight" any day.

I liked the reveal about Chakotay's fears about developing Alzhiemers like his Grandfather but the Kid Chaos and Boothby was crap.
Besides, I thought Picard was the only one that was friend with Boothby but Voyager made it out like the man ran Starfleet.
I think "Threshold" gets unfairly slammed because this was far, far worse.

Crikey.

You know that Enterprise Episode where Archer gets Anterograde Ammseia and he forgets that he's fracking T'Pol every 7 years or so.

That was a left over Voyager script they retooled for Enterprise

"Retooled"

For when the first tool just isn't a big enough tool.

A new tool for a new generation.

Where was I?

If Voyager had used that Script, they would have been competing like a pissing contest to see who could remember less of the world first and...

Tuvok had it as well, in Endgame.

Vulcan Dementia.

And if the Doctor stopped EATING Holograms who he thought did not deserve life as much as he did, he'd go potty and lose his ability to process memory too.

Kes wouldn't last too long after the memory started going, it her body falls apart in nearly the same way as we saw her last weeks in Before and after... You know despite being a goddess now?

What about the rest of the crew?

Ah finally some one who likes 'The Fight'! Personally I loved it.

Then again i'm bias cause I love me some Chakotay. I thought that 'The Fight' was a great episode to see his character get some attention and learn a bit about his history.

Not to mention the wonderful J/C moments in that episode.

I'd gladly watch it any day.
