Was there ever an official explanation in Nemesis...

Worf'sParmach

Commander
Red Shirt
...for how Worf got back on the Enterpise-E? Is it anything more than he was simply there for the Riker-Troi wedding? I know the novels have Worf leaving his position as Ambassador, but was this confirmed "on screen?" I'm drawing a blank and I don't want to wait for the Netflix DVD to get here

No. By the time Nemesis rolled around they'd stopped explaining it, probably for the best as well given that the explanations got worse as time went on. First Contact I can understand, but Insurrection had some torturous line about him just happening to be in the area and popping by to visit, even Picard's reaction upon seeing him is "what the hell are you doing here!?"

By Nemesis Worf is just there and everyone accepts it.

See the novel series "A Time To...". The answer is there, in book nine, I believe.

yeah if you don't read (non-canon anyway) Trek fiction it's pretty jarring. It goes from "Worf's Federation ambassador, good for him!" in WYLB to him being back with the Ent-E in NEM.

Wasn't there supposed to be a line explaining that the diplomatic job didn't work out for Worf? Odd that they dropped a five-second line that would have made things clearer.

They could have just kept him in the role of Ambassador, and he takes the train to Betazed for the wedding. Why is it important that he wears a Starfleet uniform when he can kick ass nonetheless?

Because the majority of nemesis viewers weren't watching DS9(at least that was the plan when they made the movie). As far as the average viewer was concerned Worf was still the tactical officer on the Enterprise. So why confuse them with Worf showing up in a different uniform? And why would an ambassador be manning a bridge station and firing weapons?

Why does everyone always think people are stupid?

How did Chekov end up on the Reliant in TWOK? Did that confuse anyone?

Just drop the hint that he became Federation Ambassador in the Klingon Empire and now wants to attend the wedding, and done.

I wished they would have referenced his new position. I loved how far he came at the end of DS9, and then they kind of just intentionally forgot it to put things back the way they were on the series.

These are my feelings as well. I thought Federation Ambassador to the Klingon Empire was a perfect role for Worf for a variety of reasons. I knew there was that line in the script saying that he'd left his job as an Ambassador, but I couldn't remember if it made it to the final version of the movie, and according to you guys it didn't. Seems silly to me that he needs to quit his (much better) position just to be the "fire phasers" guy for Nemesis.

Haha at least they didn't go the way of the last two films, where the Enterprise Tactical Officer is basically told to **** off, Worf's here!

Hehe, that ties into the discussion in the Plothole City thread. Ensign Ricky has to go because we want Worf!

Yeah, but the difference is, in FC and INS there actually is visible Lt Ricky, who is almost literally pushed out of the way!

Picard: "Mr. Worf, we could use some help at Tactical."
FC Tac Officer: "WTF? Thanks for the vote of confidence, dick."

"Mr Worf we could use some help at Tactical"
"The Fuck? I just blew up the cube, and you want the guy who thought crashing the Defiant into the Borg ship and declaring a draw to help me?"
