This was an interesting ep indeed...the villains they used was also interesting for the IJ. I need to re-watch the end...but the Light is Luthor and some other guys? I need help identifying all of them. But the IJ are pawns, The LoS as well...but the Light is Luthor and a group of other villains?
I enjoy the series...but it does lack something that JLU had...I wouldn't call it heart...but it certainly isn't as fun...but I do enjoy this series.
The Light are made up of...
Vandal Savage (the main speaker),Luthor, Ocean Master, Queen Bee, the Brain, Ras Al Ghul, and Klarion the witch boy.
The show really assumes you know everything comic book (to whom else would cameos of Icon and Rocket mean anything too?), but at the same time if you do know it, you can see why it's off. The Light are way too far out of the YJ team's league, and for that matter, You dont send the junior team after Wotan and Black Adam! I can only assume the Light's plan is to sic child services on the JLA after that. Once you establish that the younglings can go toe to toe with the True Monsters of the DCU, you've killed the drama.
I will add there is still much to like in this series, and hopefully it will correct itself in time.
I agree this Joker wasn't too great I'm guessing they were trying to copy Heath Ledger's version,I'm spoiled I'm just use to Mark Hamill's version heck the Brave and Bold version was better then this one,They should have atleast let Spiner use his Puck voice from Gargoyles that would have worked a little better.
I'm I the only one who wishes this series was based on the Justice League instead of the "sidekicks" I know we already had a great JL series but this is a more "realistic" series so it would have not just have been a copy of the original.

That was Brent Spiner voicing the Joker? If anything that makes it even more disappointing, because I could see Spiner doing a great, really scary totally insane Joker. And yeah, I have to agree that the revelation of the identities of the Light was rather disapointing. I know most of the characters have already appeared on the show, but since I'm a comics newbie I'm not really familiar with any of them other than
I actually really enjoy the show. It's not as good as the DCAU or the animated movies, but still pretty good IMO.
Luthor and Ra's. Honestly, their Injustice League would have made a more impressive lineup for The Light, and I was really disappointed when they revealed they were only working for The Light.

Definitely a good episode; I liked it a lot. The Joke was a bit more low-key than I'm used to, but it was interesting to see a different take on him. The only thing that bugged me was the big reveal at the end...where I recognized about three of the characters. That kind of lost its impact for me.
I'll admit, I had a bit of a "wtf" moment at Artemis saying "Not the fun kind of naked." That's something that a real teen would say, but on what's ostensibly a kid's show in a America, it was odd to see a minor talking about sexuality so bluntly.

Yeah I didn't like the Joker either and had no idea that it was Brent Spiner. It seems they were going for a different take (it didn't remind me at all of the Ledger Joker) a more sedated and low key version.
From what I understand from Weisman's website, his reading of the DCU is somewhat lmited mostly from his formative years, during his tenure as an assistant editor at DC and some 90s stuff including YJ.
Much of the major development for Black Adam as a power house was done under Geoff Johns during the 00s. Before that Black Adam was very much a joke character who in his first appearance had been beaten by Uncle Marvel. So likely Weisman just doesn't know about the current development of Black Adam.
The same is why the martians are still around. The idea of J'onn being the last of his race never really coalesced and developed until Ostrander's run of MM. Ditto for the many obscure O'Neil-Wolfman Bat-villains like Ojo or Sensei that we have seen.
No I think Klarion is clearly influenced from Peter David's run of YJ and also Weisman's time as an employee of DC during the 80s when many of the magic characters were divided primarily in allegiance between the lords of order and the lords of chaos.

Yeah, that caught me by surprise too, but it is TV-PG so they can get away with alot more than something geared towards something geared solely towards kids (TV-Y and TV-Y7 are kid shows).
