The Connection Between Star Trek and the Halloween Movies

Recently I saw a documentary about the "Halloween" movies, which were made by John Carpenter. During the show they talked with various production members, who described different aspects of the film's origins. Since it was a very low budget film, they couldn't afford to do extensive make up on the Michael Myers character. So they decided to just use a store bought Halloween mask. They still had difficulty deciding what kind of Halloween mask that Michael Myers should wear. They eventually narrowed it down to either a clown mask, a Mr. Spock mask, or a Captain Kirk mask. The clown was too funny in appearance, and Spock was too alien looking. So they took the Kirk mask, removed the hair and sideburns, and enlarged the eye holes. Amazing! Michael Myers is really Captain Kirk! True story!!!

The Spock mask would've prompted a lawsuit, due to how recognizable it is, whereas the Kirk mask, easily altered, doesn't look all that much like Shatner anyway, so...
