Red vs Blue: Great Show?

Episode 15 is now online and in my opinion the best episode of the season! So many good one liners. Maine/Meta is a bad ass. It's so nice to have Wash back. I'm warming up to Agent Carolina even though she's a bitch. Plus Tex!!!

The Halo machinima, right? I could never sit through more than two or three minutes of it before I got bored. That I never cared much for Halo probably has a point here.

Halo fandom is not required to enjoy Red vs Blue. Only in the last few years have they tried to actually fit it into Halo's universe; aside from a passing joke in the first episode, The Blood Gulch Chronicles is fairly independent of the Halo mythos.

Perhaps not, but I assume enjoying Red vs Blue is a requirement to enjoy Red vs Blue.

Now the machinima does bore me (and I like a fair bit of machinima) but I conceded as someone who was never into Halo I may not be the target audience.

Well, I'm not going to speculate on why someone likes or doesn't like something. In my personal opinion, though, 2-3 minutes is not enough to have a real opinion on the matter, especially given how much its changed over the years. (It isn't even 100% machinima anymore.) Each season (when viewed continuously on DVD rather than as episodes) is movie-length, between 90 and 150 minutes. And in all that time, only portions of season 3 have ever bored me.

Slight distinction here. I've never been able to watch it for longer than that length of time - not two, three minutes total experience. I just keep zoning out so I watch something else instead.

It’s one of life’s great mysteries isn’t it? Why are we here? I mean, are we the fans of some 60s TV show, or is there an Admin watching everything? You know, with a plan for us and stuff. I don’t know, man. But it keeps me up at night.

As an aside, the latest episode is a triumph of one-liners and 3D animation. I wish there were anything half as kick-ass on TV.....

^ Agreed. I have a couple of friends that have Kegg's mentality. I introduced them to the show and for whatever reason they couldn't get into it, they even used the "I'm not into Halo line" but to each their own. As I said earlier it does take a while to get into the show. It took me about the first six episodes to really get hooked.

I wanna recall I immediately took to it, but at this distance, who knows?

P.S. I fucking hate watching it week to week. But I do it anyway, because I hate myself.

I tried to watch through it a couple years back, but only got a few episodes into (I think) Season Three before I got sidetracked by other stuff and forgot about it. So it stayed awesome after that point, then?

It's much better to watch a season all at once, it's too hard remembering who is where and why at the start of each 3 minute episode. How close is the current season to finishing? I haven't started it yet!

Well we're at episode 15 right now and there have usually been about twenty episodes per season. I think Season Five was the longest with 23.

Yes. My personal favorite years were 6 and 8. The flavor changes a bit with the transition from The Blood Gulch Chronicles to The Recollection.

Don't forget to watch the mini-series as well:
Out of Mind: Before season 5 (I think)
Recovery One: Before season 6
Relocated: Before season 7

Also, whenever there's a "Preview" episode it is usually effectively an Episode 0 so watch it first.

I would agree with Lindley that seasons six through eight are my favourite. I love the Blood Gulch Chronicles but the previous three seasons were just awesome in terms of storyline, music, acting, just production in general.

I think my favourite characters in the series are: Church, Tex, Wash, and Griff.

I was never that crazy about Andy the Bomb. I loved Gary the Computer though. And the Wash character doesn't work for me, he's too much of a straight man actual person, and not a cartoon like the rest of them :p ;)

You know how I said it seemed like they had was nowhere to go with the action setpieces? I'll give 'em credit for proving me wrong on that. That was really cool.

(Except for the very end of it. You can match velocities and catch people with an airplane [especially if you don't care about G forces] but not with a car. If they can be caught by a car what difference would it make if they just hit the ground? It's the same Goddamned thing. )
