I know the difference between a teaser and a theatrical trailer thanks very much Trekker. I haven't seen any website describe this as a teaser trailer though. Also do we know what film this is playing in front of yet? Or was I right and they just wanted something out before the big panel on the weekend?

It seems teaser-ish. Not much story, just cool shots:

"Here's that cool guy from that movie you liked! And here's another! And another! And a hot chick! And explosions! Did we mention the cool guy is in it?

*Oh and we're trying the green guy again. You'll like him this time, we promise!"

It's very short, not nearly the length of most full theatrical trailers and yeah, structurally it's a teaser.

Neat. I now feel compelled to see both Thor and Captain America - are they on iTunes yet?

Looks like Thor is, but not Cap.

I answered my own question, so it's cool. What's the holdup with Captain America though? Instant gratification and all that. And when is Avengers coming to iTunes? I can't be bothered going to the theatre, so day-and-date downloads if you please Stan.

I'm guessing the hold up on Captain America is they are waiting for the DVD release first which is at the end of the month..."Avengers" comes out next year so you've got a bit of a wait :)

Yeah, they tend to release all of the formats, DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital Download on the same day.
As for the trailer, while it didn't show alot of the actual plot, I really liked what we did see. I'm a huge Joss Whedon fan, and I loved all of the MU movies, so I'm really really looking forward to this, and the trailer did not disappoint.

Just finished watching my rental of Thor on iTunes. I don't think I'll own it like Ang Lee's Hulk and the Iron Man films, but I was surprisingly entertained. There was a lot more depth to the relationship between Loki and Thor than I expected.

Definitely looks like Avengers has its work cut out for it given that part of the film needs to be devoted to resurrecting one member and bringing the other to Earth!

Resurrected? Who do you mean?
Iron Man=alive
Captain America=alive & in the present at end of his movie
Hulk/Banner=alive
Black Widow=alive
Hawkeye=alive
Thor=alive and noted not yet on Earth at close of his film...but alive.

I'd wager Thor is brought to Earth inside of 5min of screen time. The first Act will be getting them together, which is mostly what I think we saw in this teaser.

He could be talking about Loki, but even he was seen to have survived falling off the Bi-Frost Bridge in the Thor stinger.

I was talking about Cap; didn't realise he was out of the ice at the end - WAY TO SPOIL IT FOR ME!

Well, yeah, but I thought the whole of the film took place during WWII and part of the whole Avengers thing in the comics was digging him out of the ice. Seems a shame to have already done that stuff.
