i dont quite get what you mean by "mythic." do you just want things slowed down (thus making it feel more epic)?

as for style, i prefer keeping the same style (and tone) as the other marvel movies. the last thing you'd want is to go for something radically different...

look at the DC films... all have a different style and tone, and they all feel like they are in different universes because of that. can you imagine taking the current movie versions of GL, Batman and Superman (take your pick with Singer's style or Snyder's style) and tossing them into a movie? it'd be a mess because there is no stylistic or tonal consistency across those films.

In Comics Marvel has always been very large scale. Vast alien fleets, giant robots, alien demigods who eat planets. Thats missing from the Marvel movies. Thor came close with the Destroyer.

A thought I had is, what will be the post-credits scene be at the end of The Avengers?


Surely there'll be one, seen as all the other Marvel movies have had them so far. Mostly set ups for The Avengers, or in Iron Man 2 for Thor

So so you think it will it be something for Iron Man 3? Avengers/Capt America/Thor/Hulk 2? Or maybe something for their potential new movies

They should have made him a giant purple cloud in the shape of Galactus. Or have the cloud be his ship.

I think they had something shaped like Galactus's helmet inside the cloud.

It does start out that way, doesn't it? So, yeah. I guess it can't entirely count as a spoiler since you can't spoil the beginning of something.

Apparently Sean hasn't seen it at all. He said a few posts up he only goes to the theater for movies called Trek. Which means he goes to the movies about 3-4 times a decade.

Just watched Iron Man 2 for the first time. Whet my appetite big time for this film. Can't wait to see Captain America (though I'm not sure if it can top the 1990 film ;)) to get me even more pumped for this.

Question though, there were rumors a while back Natalie Portman would be cameoing in this film as her character from Thor. Is that still true? I know a few of the characters in this film are from Thor, namely Loki and the professor, but it'd be weird to leave Portman out. Especially when Gwyneth Paltrow is in it from Iron Man.
