Are B-4 or Data mentioned in any post-Nemesis Treklit?

I would so like data's personality to take over B-4 and return to comand the enterprise e as in the countdown comics. I miss data.

I agree with this. All I know is that in the end, I expect to see Professor Data holding the Lucasian chair at Cambridge - a la "All Good Things".

Why? We already know that version of the future isn't going to happen. The destruction of the Enterprise-D alone proves that. It's certainly possible that, if Data were somehow to return to life, he could choose to pursue an academic career, but it's not a given that his future would follow that same path. And of course that's a big "if" to begin with.

I blame the natural human desire to believe that, somehow, death is not the inevitable, universal, and inescapable destiny of all life.

Data wasn't even "life"...

Depends on how you define life, I suppose. But even if he had lasted for millennia, he still would have died -- ceased to process energy, and therefore ceased to function -- once the heat death of the universe occurred.

It just galls me to think that some people don't see the problem with Data just overwriting B-4 and going about his merry way...

In TSFS it was fundamentally different because Spock never meant to supplant McCoy's own personality, just borrow some hard-drive space for a while as it were. In addition McCoy probably would have consented to Spock doing the memory dump if there'd been time to ask (sure he'd have bitched and whined about it in his own particular way!)

With B-4 though...he's just non compus mentis in my opinion, he's Data's "special" brother, and I don't think he'd have the presence of mind to decide to wipe himself...

Just my opinion!

If we HAVE to keep him, I vote for ANY name other than B-4. I mean seriously, how did they NOT realize just how AWFUL that name is?!?! Rates right up there with Count Dooku in the list of stupidest sci-fi names EVER.

Maybe the B-4 and Data happily share the android body, like... a schizoid man?

Maybe Maddox built a new android body - and transferred Data's memories out of the B-4?

Is it really that much worse than "Data" and "Lore?" (Or "K-9?")

Build new body - download "Data" to new body. Q.E.D.

Yeah, the problem with the name B4 is it implies that at the outset he was not intended as the final product.

A very minor detail from that movie I did like was the retro look of B4's jumpsuit/uniform it was very TOS in style.

Yeah, that was my idea too. I would think that with the amount of time people were able to study Data, and now having B-4 at the DI itself, it probably wouldn't be that much out of the realm of possibility for them to build Data a new body.

A new body might be doable, but has anyone successfully replicated the Soong positronic brain? If not, wouldn't that be the biggest issue? After all, if another body were built with an android brain that wasn't as sophisticated as Soong's design, then the "new" Data might be more like B-4 than the "old" Data, even with all of his old memories.

From what I remember, the body was never the problem as far as duplicating Data went. Rather it was his positronic brain that no one could figure out how to replicate. It seems not only unlikely, but virtually impossible, that B-4's brain would be sophisticated enough to support Data's consciousness.
