I think some jerk got him banned....Again...for like the thousandth time. I know the guy, used to be under the nick, "Hellsgate", a long time ago and got into it with one of the Mods and now they just won't leave the poor sod alone due to some stupid rule about being banned. If you're banned once, it means being banned forever. No re-entry under new names with sincere attempts to be a meaningful contributor.
*sighs, facepalm* I know - seriously pathetic and juvenile, isn't it? Don't look at me. It wasn't my idea, was it?
It's kind of difficult to contribute anything useful or help the cause of trek fandom writing, (professional, amateur or anything in-between,) when you get to the point of conquering writers' block. Just to get a Mod with a xenophobic hard-on for alternate points of view in your way, the second the floodgates open and something even remotely useful comes out.
Not to mention his e-book covers for others' ".pdf" files for kindle reader conversion, that may have had mixed reactions, but were helpful and neighborly in spirit just the same. But cliquey minds think alike... and therein lies the cause for one more pointless ban. Even though TrekUnited and every other site has left him alone and hasn't felt anywhere near the same kneejerk compulsion to pull the God-Mod card out every tenth of a second or whenever they discover someone coloring outside the rigidly defined lines of this tired, uninspired TOS/TNG-era obsessed paint-by-numbers set TrekBBS has become in recent years.
Even though Trelane/Hellsgate has probably helped tons of TrekBBS users find archives of stories/sites wiped out by the death of geocities and/or the nasty anti-fanfic sweep by Paramount-Viacom some years ago, via the site he's built at tripod, right around the time the "fair use" copyright clause came into use.
"Star Trek: New Worlds" -- an anthology with most of those lost / relocated sites, (& most of the resources linked to TrekBBS,) networked in one handy-to-use location. Yes, he tends to prefer more "graphic" fare, past the "PG 13" rating of TrekBBS but at some point you need to spice things up instead of consistently falling back on squeaky-clean, boring, MarySue characters with amazing powers, cat-like "nine lives", or unbelievable/staggering political reach.

But hey, how many people like Amanda Cress have come out from behind their keyboards and published their virtual series, (usually "PG"-rated) online, because of his encouragement? Only to be criticized for his views with one word "fanwank"? Only to see those who've criticized him and others, allowed to keep ~their~ memberships?
I don't write standard TOS/TNG-type stuff, or even from a standard POV, and not once has anyone given me the slightest bit of trouble for that or treated me any worse than anyone else. We certainly aren't all cookie-cutters here. And I think you've missed some of the very high-class and dare I say realistic writing here, such as the United Trek authors, Gul Re'jal, and Rush Limborg. All of the authors I just named are about as far from Mary Sue, cookie-cutter, reset-button writers as one can possibly get.
Dang right. So I don't think that's fair to vent at us over what is clearly an issue with the mods, who are within their rights to prevent people from circumventing a ban, whom I suspect didn't even bother to try to talk to the mods first and ask permission.
