General Grevious scenes in SW: Clone Wars?

General Grevious made his debut in the cartoon that House of UIster stated and those are the episode titles he posted in the Wookipedia entry. We've mentioned the Genndy Tartakovsky micro-series in other related threads you've posted in. In fact I believe you once asked if you should watch it before the current Clone Wars CGI series.

So... you had to watch some cartoon to have some clue who these characters were? I had no idea, and couldn't have cared less, except for having paid for dvd rental. Yet another problem with the prequels.

In hindsight I suppose Boba Fett was introduced in a similar fashion, with the Holiday Special and all - something I forgot about when I made my first reply.

Yeah, but you didn't have to have SEEN the cartoon to understand something about Boba Fett. All the relevant information was repeated.

Though, I suppose the same is probably true of Grevious.... except the wheezing.

Isn't he now coughing at an earlier point in continuity?

Which would beg the question, why does a cyborg have a cough?

I have a vague recollection (probably for the DVD) of Lucas saying that the cough was a result of the cybernetics not working so well with his remaining squishy parts. Make of that what you will.

Lame!

You would think though... it would be ease to fix, a cybernetic lung. Wouldn't you want that if you were going into combat? Why would you want lungs that don't work?

Yeah Lucas stated in the audio commentary I think that Grevious had an encounter with Mace Windu who is responsible for the cough. It never quite healed for whatever reason. Grevious is supposed to foreshadow Anakin becoming Darth Vader, the machine/man theme.

I thought it was John Knoll, but that was before TCW existed. Now Grievous had the cough before Mace's Force-crush ( unless that event is to be retconned into an earlier position in the timeline ).

You do realize that Grevious is responsible for the death of millions including a whole lot of Jedi that murdered right?

Anybody see the animatic in the blu-ray set extras disc for Episode III?

Basically, it was the wheel bike chase as envisioned by Spielberg. It is very OTT but would have been fun if it were finished. It also had Grievous finished off in an even nastier fashion.

As for the character's background, apart from the animated series his background was covered in novels such as Labyrynth of Evil. Basically part of the discontinuity between the portrayals of Grievous in the original cartoon is in part due to Lucas making revisions to the character in post, as well as changes in voice actors (Reportedly Gary Oldman was going to do the voice but there were issues with the Screen Actor's Guild).

For more info on Greivous here is the Wiki link

Also here's an action figure spotlight on how he looked before he became a Cyborg:

Some say the henchvillains in the films show the three aspects of Vader: Sith Lord (Maul) Fallen Jedi (Dooku) and Cyborg (Greivous)

what was his original death going to be?

ok so just saw episode 4 and sidious says grevious is a key player in his plans for the clone wars. how is he special? wouldn't asaj ventress be better to keep because she's sensitive to the force and so she has more potential than him?

i still don't see how grevious can duel any jedi. wouldn't they just 'force push' him away?

Greivous mainly is in command of the droid armies. As for Ventress, she seems to constantly get defeated by Anakin and Obi-Wan (Although in earlier continuity, she was the one who gave him the ROTS eye scar)

Watch the clone wars shorts. Like Dooku said in one of the shorts, Grievous has to compensate for this by having fear and surprise on his side or else that will be exactly what happens.

yah plus ventress can compete with sidious as she's strong in the force while grevious has a low ceiling.

does anyone know why they didn't vader a body like grevious's? i mean grevious was bouncing off the walls compared to vader's crawling body.
