My dad and best friend are republicans

Unless you're Dr. Doolittle I don't see how you can state this with any certainty. Outside of our ability to cause vast changes to the global environment there's not a helluva lot different between us and other animals: tool use, language, emotions, engineering feats, etc. I don't see why it isn't possible that some animals have a sense of spirituality or an "interior life."
I disagree. Except about the changes in the global environment. I agree we have done that. But engineering feats? Last time I checked Zebra weren't building sky scrapers or space shuttles.

If you make spirituality to basically mean being fascinated by anything, the word is meaningless. It's like saying a hobby is something you do, like driving your car or going to work.

That's not the definition I posted or linked to. Wanting to be connected with the larger world or others, wanting to better yourself, ect. That isn't a hobby.

Animals can't do things to the same degree that humans can, but that doesn't mean they don't have a concept of engineering. Animals construct shelter for themselves all the time. Hell, a bird making itself a nest out of nearby twigs is an engineering feat.

Depends on what you mean by the larger world. Spiritually generally refers to what can't be seen. As for bettering yourself, you might as well say going to college is spiritual.

Ugh, I hate the guy (but nice that you've heard the name). And Austrian football was pretty good until about the mid-60s. ;)

Note to self: be calm, think of Ponies. To be honest, at the moment I worry more about how shit my club is right now, than things that happened 15 years ago. ;)

However, by that same token some extreme Jewish people think we are all going to hell if we work on the Sabbath or eat pork!
I'm not Jewish, but I'm pretty sure they couldn't care less what us goyim gorge ourselves on.

Or "being part of something larger than yourself" could be supporting a specific sports club.
There's no doubt in my mind that Juventus is bigger than god.
Hallelujah.

For quite a few years I described certain valuable (IMAO) aspects of being and seeking as "spiritual," but lately I've come to a different way of understanding (and not understanding) it all. I feel better.

While the PSG is doing great (except in Bilbao where they è&--ç"'ç²à^^...), there is no justice ;)

(Avoid salt, it's better than ponies for your blood pressure)

Well, you got yourself some rich Arab sugardaddy, didn't you? ;)
Anyway, I don't really follow the European Cup when Rapid's not in it, but I hate Slovan and I fucking hate Red Bull, so I hope PSG advances to the next round. (I kind of like Athletic, but only because the fans of the other viennese club hate them -> football math ;))
