wwe vs tnt anyone watching?

Speaking of the World Heavyweight Championship, does anyone here think DB will "cash in", anytime soon? I just don't see them continuing with the whole "Wrestlemania" thing that DB suggested following his MITB ladder match win.

As much as I like his ability in the ring and his major improvement in mic skills and crowd interaction, he isn't over enough yet to justify a main event spot at Wrestlemania. WWE continue to have him job out in the majority of his matches and he's often stuck doing dark matches at PPV events. Still, DB is more than capable of working as a world champion and with all that in mind, I see three scenarios.

A) Daniel Bryan announces that he's cashing in at Wrestlemania on the prior Raw or Smackdown. He gets his match and if the Royal Rumble winner is in the match, it becomes a triple threat.

B) Daniel Bryan cashes in sometime between now and MITB 2012.

C) Daniel Bryan loses the MITB briefcase (and his title shot) in a stipulation match.

I don't see them putting DB over Mark Henry or Randy Orton, so at this moment a title win seems out of the question.

Thoughts?

Nope. I don't think it will happen for a while. I think they're going to keep the World Title on Henry because taking it off of him at this point would be a colossal waste, but then we know what they did to Miz after six months of build up so maybe I've defeated my own argument.

I liked MITB when it was just one match at Wrestlemania with wrestlers from both brands. It gave a certain "prestige" to the accomplishment and the winner of the match would usually go on to be recieved as a top star by the fans.

There was also unpredictability to the MITB winner. They could cash in against any world champion, and on any brand. It was also pretty awesome when the MITB winner held out for a number of months until things were really quiet and then they suddenly cashed in when no one expected it.

The first MITB winner - Edge, cashed in following John Cena's Elimination Chamber match and proceeded to take the WWE Championship from him, in an angle that set the benchmark for the MITB winner and cemented Edge's status as the ultimate opportunist. With RVD we saw some variation, rather than take advantage of a weakened champion, he decided to go with the home field advantage and force Cena to defend the WWE Championship against him at the ECW One Night Stand PPV in 2006.

Mr Kennedy once vowed to keep hold off the MITB case and then cash in against the winner of the following year's Wrestlemania main event. That didn't happen as Edge defeated him for the case and then proceeded to cash in against Undertaker who had just fought to a draw in a steel cage with Batista, followed by a beat down by Mark Henry. Edge ran out on Smackdown (he was a Raw superstar at the time) to a chorus of hate and won the title by defeating the battered Undertaker. This gave Edge incredible heat and set the stage for an epic feud with Undertaker.

CM Punk gave Edge a taste of his own medicine in 2008. After CM Punk was at the point of fading into obscurity, he ran out after Batista attacked Edge and cashed in his MITB contract to beat Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship. In the process, Punk took the WHC over to Raw and finally reached the main event. The following year, he cashed in again. This time Punk took advantage of Jeff Hardy, after Hardy had won the WHC in a gruelling ladder match against Edge. Not only did this set a new record for the shortest WHC title reign, but it started CM Punk on a very well recieved heel turn.

Jack Swagger's win at Wrestlemania was meant to propel him to the main event. It just didn't happen like this and following his cash in and win against Chris Jericho on the post-WM Smackdown, he just couldn't keep the momentum going and ultimately fell out of favour.

The last really good MITB cash in, involved Kane. Nobody expected Kane to win the Smackdown MITB ladder match, but he did and he then cashed in following Rey Mysterio's defense against Jack Swagger, winning the title and beginning a period of terror that resulted in three wins over the Undertaker.

Let's face it, everyone knew that The Miz was going to cash in, sooner rather than later and against Orton as well. And as for ADR, well people were calling for him to cash in following the MITB main event!

The MITB concept has become quite stale and even predictable in the last couple of years. For something that can play a huge part in getting new stars over, it's just not being used to it's potential.

^ Dude I think this is the second time you've given a run down of the Money in the Bank winners and history...but I agree with you I think they've used it too much. It's become a plot device for setting up stories in some cases. To me Jack Swagger's victory was a huge shock for many fans. I remember reading the reaction and talking to friends who were like NO frigging way. Another thing they dropped the ball on...as much as I rag on TNA for doing stupid stuff I am quite willing to be critical of WWE when they do the same, they just do it to a lesser degree than TNA does.

Daniel Bryan doesn't need to cash in his MiTB now...he isn't involved in any story line I am aware of where it is crucial. I don't watch Smackdown...so he could be involved in something...but I would expect anything major to carry over to RAW Super Show. They have plenty of time to build a story for him...and doing it at WM works for me.

Is it?! I get carried away sometimes!

Getting back to DB, I think if he does cash in prior to WM, then there are only a couple of ways that can make it work.

A) The face route - DB comes out and challenges the heel champion with the odds stacked against him, but he eventually gains the advantage and gets the submission victory.

B) The heel route - DB comes out following the beatdown of the face champion by another superstar. He runs into the ring and locks on one of his submission moves. The champion is at the point of unconciousness, so the referee has no choice but to stop the match and award the title to DB.

^^ Exactly. He doesn't fit into any of the story lines right now...if Orton ends up beating Henry tomorrow though, I could see them having him cash it against Randy down the line sometime.

That would only work if DB was playing the heel role. The way I see it, if Henry retains then DB could cash in following an open challenge and get the upset, yet decisive victory (in the process making Henry tap out).

I'd like to see someone other than Orton & Henry with the title when DB cashes it in...like Christian or Sheamus...or even Wade Barrett...there is plenty of time before WM for someone else to have the title and I don't see DB cashing in before WM.

I've been neglecting Botchamania...apparently Maffew's all healed up from the dog attack because he just posted 186 about an hour ago. I'm going to have to catch up on the previous two that I missed.

Also an indication of how far we've come with the Punk story line...CM Punk faced Randy Orton at Wrestlemania! I forgot about the awesome midair RKO Orton...it still amazes me a bit that fans go ape shit for the RKO.

Holy Shit did I mark out big time for that finish!!! The Miz Truth save the show and a boring ass Hell in a Cell match that featured NO BLADING!!! WTF? Del Rio's strategy was awesome...they might as well play the damn theme song now I'm 1000 percent convinced now those three lovely letters are back!. The Miz looks great in white and black :)

The ending of HIAC was completely insane and whilst I think it would have been an excellent angle on anyother occasion, I don't think it was particulary suited here and I'll explain why. By having Triple H, The Miz and R-Truth come out, takes away attention from the winner of the match - Alberto Del Rio. Sure, nobody really wanted Del Rio to win (myself included, I was hoping Punk would get it when Cena was locked out) but nonetheless, he is the champion.

All in all, HIAC was a pretty good PPV with some solid ring action and sensible booking outcomes. The angle at the end was pretty awesome, but like I said before, it just felt like they were taking too much away from the title change.

I think we might be seeing a new heel stable made up of the wrestlers that Triple H/John Laurinaitis fire in the coming weeks, it began with The Miz and R-Truth and it won't end there. But there is the possibility that Triple H will lose his job as COO for his actions at HIAC.

We should know by now though that this angle is not even about the title. If it was Punk would still have it. So I have no problem with it taking away the spotlight from Del Rio, who is a heel champion anyways. When Truth and Miz came out in the black hoodies omg...insane finish yes but...AWESOME! They really saved the show for me.

I knew Miz & Truth were going to do something big tonight.

I picked ADR to win. :p Can't wait to see some vids tomorrow. :)
