If I can only edit my first post include links to BOTH videos like this.

His MLP Part 2 video is good to show people non-fans, not to make them fans, but show why you fans like the show. I should have waited and start this thread with both videos, so they can just watch part 2 instead of having that argument. Anyway, I'm glad you guys enjoy CR's videos as much as I do.
When I was younger, I thought the quality of a program depends on the franchise, but as I grew older, I realized it was, and always will be, the creative people involved that make all the difference in the world. I mentioned it before, but looking at all the incarnations of Batman, the differences are staggering. From the fun and light hearted Adam West's Batman, to the gritty, serious Noland's Dark Knight. Same source material, same names of characters, same Bat Channel... uh, I mean ... same Bat signal, but different Bruce/Batman, different Joker, and different tone. If I say "I love Batman movies" and the first film people think of is "Batman and Robin", they'll think I'm crazy.
I think what turned some people off is probably the art direction or stigma. It looks very cute, and the main characters are all female. The problem is that it's all they see. They assume fans like it because of the cute animations, and concluding that fans are weird. I run into same thing when people see me playing a girl character in fighting games, Tomb Raider, or Warcraft. I play do both male and female characters, in Warcraft and other games, but what mattered was game play and fun, not what gender or race of the character.
The reason why fans like any show is always been the characters and stories. In comparing the two Star Wars trilogies, I think RLM said it best, that most fans enjoy the OT over the PT. While explosions, special effects, and eye candy, are all frosting on the cake, it's not what makes a movie. After watching CR's review, I'm concluding that fans like MLP because of the ensemble of funny, quirky characters that populate the world are endearing and appealing, and their wacky adventures.
Going off topic here...
Look, we all like something that others may not. I can only wish I can be like CR, the Nostalgia crew, and others on the internet, in explaining why I like Sucker Punch, Total Drama, and other stuff. I feel bad about forgetting to explain that I was talking about TDI when I put up that Warcraft/TDI video. It was the only TD thing I made. I just didn't want to put up another fan's video and call it horrible, especially since I like it.
While not a bad show, it's just not something people here like. Here's some fan videos NOT made by me.
High School Never Ends by Bowling for Soup. This starts in 24 seconds. I don't know why.

TDI (Season 1) - Rockstar by Nickelback

I consider this show almost completely opposite of MLP:FiM. MLP is filled with funny characters, is all about friendship, kindness, and a quest to save the world from evil. TD series is filled with annoying stereotypes, about revenge, lying, backstabbing, and about winning money on a reality show. Easily explained just by looking at the teams in Season 3
Team Victory: Full of friends and fan favorites that get along, this team is quickly eliminated. Trying to stay optimistic while their numbers dwindle is all they can do.
Team Chris: This team is comprised of a goofball, a klutz, a smart alec, a crazy girl, and their leader who sees them as nothing but losers. I guess this provides most the comedy for the show, with members more concerned about goofing off than winning challenges. On the other hand, their leader is trying to win... and sabotaging other teams.
Team Amazon: This team is filled with mostly girls and 1 guy. It's ironic that is the best team, not because it's filled with girls, but because it's filled with girls that CAN'T STAND each other. They provide the "drama" for the show. There's the insane fangirl; the uptight, control freak; the loner goth girl, and the team leader: the ice queen of mean, psycho bitch. Guess who last the longest.
Oh yeah there's a bunch of songs too. Here's one with all the teams. Well, last of Team Victory. Ice Queen is out to make an alliance with him.
