Im a big Who fan, and I do agree, there is a lot of episodic stuff, but the older who was almost all serial, 5 to 6 eps per, and the new season of Who has been one long story arc.
I didn't watch a lot of them but I think the old Doctor Who were more like mini-series than anything. I think most serialized Sci-fi series should be made into mini-series instead. I'm sure The Event or Flashforward would have been pretty good mini-series as would Terra Nova. It would probably also improve the pacing too.Im a big Who fan, and I do agree, there is a lot of episodic stuff, but the older who was almost all serial, 5 to 6 eps per, and the new season of Who has been one long story arc.
Fortunately, there's Stephen Lang. Just like in Avatar, he's easily the best thing in this show and makes it worth watching. The guy is pure awesome, tough and badass. He got all the best dialogue and scenes and even his backstory is kind of interesting, particularly with him surviving 118 days in the jungle alone when he first arrived.
Since, it's a totally new alternate timeline they created, like a new branch on a tree, those people don't exist yet.It was Ok. I liked SGU better, but I'll keep watching for now.
Alternate timeline, huh? And I wonder how the people of the future in this timeline are liking the re-tooling of their past by these folks?

1) I actually think the 118 days was another groups of guys not Taylor
2) The fact that he faced down a giant man eating dinosaur with just an assult rifle totally makes up for that, becuase quiet frankly that was badass.
Well the kids thought the markings looked "ancient", but the sixers state at the end of the episode that Lang's missing son is behind the markings.
The action/fight scenes did seem like a "SyFy Original."
Important point: We don't know if their time travel gizmo created anything. It may have opened a portal to an already existing alternate universe.Since, it's a totally new alternate timeline they created
The moon wasn't a big giveaway? Not to mention that they could check the location of the stars and extrapolate where they're supposed to be, 85M years ago. It's easy to verify that they are on some alternate Earth.*maybe* they will realize that they are not on some alternate timeline or not even on earth.
If the time travel created the new timeline, they should be grateful they exist at all!I wonder how the people of the future in this timeline are liking the re-tooling of their past by these folks?
Taylor definitely said he survived on his own for 118 days because the rest of his team didn't appear thru the stargate right after him. Which sounded reaaaaly fishy to me. I wonder if any of those guys are around to corroborate that story or if they've all conveniently become dino-chow?1) I actually think the 118 days was another groups of guys not Taylor
I was kinda hoping they'd forget all about the dinosaurs and stay where they were!I'm surprised to see all the hate for post-apocalyptic police states. They're so much fun!

One reason I voted "above avg" is that I compared them to the monster mash generated by Syfy, and on those terms its far above avg of what we see on TV.
I wonder how the people of the future in this timeline are liking the re-tooling of their past by these folks?
So did anybody here go into this thing NOT looking for something new to hate?
Trek BBS: Come for the science fiction, stay for the endless narcissism.
V started out great, then they had to turn it into a weekly series. And don't even get me started on that re-imagined crap.
Oh great, I guess we can just forget about Hera; Turns out Stephen Lang is Mitochondrial Eve.
It may seem like complete and utter train wreck, but at least it has dinosaurs. So did anybody here go into this thing NOT looking for something new to hate?

Come on man, where's the positivity?
Since this is a different timeline, it's also a different Earth, and there's no reason to believe this Earth's past is exactly parallel to our own.
And everyone should keep in mind that a different timestream means that the past, as well as the future, is not necessarily identical to Earth's.
The impression I got was that the difference between timestreams was only very slight. This is still the same basic Earth, but the time fracture caused a rupture of some kind that shifted things in a slightly different direction.
The impression I got was that this is the same past, but a new future will be branched off because of their presence. I thought the whole idea of the show was that these people went to the dinosaur age. I don't think it's a completely seperate timeline, unless the producers want to write it as one at some point.Important point: We don't know if their time travel gizmo created anything. This is the same damn argument we've had about Trek XI. I can't believe we have to go thru it again!
But unlike Trek XI, whether this is a branched universe or an existing one is an important plot point, because an existing one could have a past very different from our Earth.
Maybe they think Terra Nova will do better in the "family hour" slot.Apparently Fox has this on at 8, followed by House at 9. That seems strange to me---House should obviously be the lead-in.
Was it 1 centimeter or half a centimeter? That would mean either 850 km or 425 km, not 2400. Either way, that doesn't seem like enough for them to notice a difference in the moon's size.Half a centimeter a year is one kilometer per 200 000 yrs. Eighty five million yrs divided by 200 000 kilometer/yr is 2400 km. Which is supposed to produce that enormous object?
