Young Justice-Tonight!

Nice continuity with the pilot -- the four synchronized ice-villain attacks weren't just a random excuse for action but the setup for a long-term payoff.

And a major development at the end for Superboy and M'gann. That was a much less chaste kiss than you usually see in an animated show.

Anyone know who did Waller's voice? At first I thought it was CCH Pounder, but the more I listened, the more I doubted that.

Thumbs up on tonight's ep. :techman:

At the beginning I was thinking, why did Superman and MM have to hurl the Terror Twins into a warehouse and damage it just to be dramatic, because such things often seem to be done on TV only for that reason.

But no, there was a good reason they did that, what with what needed to happen outside of view from the media cameras, so that was really nicely done.

Yes, they seem to put a lot of thought into this show, and love what they are doing.

That was indeed a super smooch, and it raised my eyebrows too, but I can't say I didn't see that coming.

I like how this series is using some adult level things like Aquaman's wife being pregnant, M'gann and Kal's kiss and even using "utero"

^Yeah, me too. I thought this was a really fun episode. As for the more adult stuff in the show, it is PG, so that probably lets them get away with more than alot of similar shows.

Caught 1x10 (again) and 1x11 today.

I really enjoy the direction in which the show seems to be heading.

Hopefully they can maintain some momentum now that they're back to showing new episodes.

Good episode, but give the Xanatos Gambits a rest, Greg. It's making the villains look like they're delusional fools who can't accept defeat. Too much of a good thing and all that.

^Well, Greg Weisman practically invented the Xanatos Gambit (at least he invented Xanatos). And it makes the villains a more effective threat if they actually gain something rather than constantly being defeated.

Second time i've seen that mentioned

Lol everyone is pulling the Xanatos Gambit in this show.

I'm confused, what is the "Xanatos Gambit"? Is it the fact that the heroes think they've won but the bad guy actually got what he wanted all along?

Yes. David Xanatos (voiced by Jonathan Frakes) was the main antagonist in Greg Weisman's earlier series Gargoyles. He was an ultra-smart character who basically avoided all the usual fatal flaws of cartoon/comics villains -- he always had backup plans for his backup plans, he never took things personally, he never went out for revenge, he didn't hate the heroes or get obsessed with fighting them, etc. Everything he did was just business. The only times he seemed to resort to conventional cartoon villainy were when he had some deeper goal, and he often pursued plans of his own in which the Gargoyles were peripheral or even accidental players. ("Oh, hello, Goliath. I didn't see you there.") He wasn't even really evil, just a very ambitious, determined, and amoral businessman. And like any really successful businessman, he always found a way to profit from the situations he set up, often by making his adversaries think they'd won the overt conflict while concealing his own subtler victory from them.

Which is why Puck thought him so interesting in the first place.

I hold out hope that we'll get to see the rest of the Gargoyles storyline play out someday.

At this point, what the writer is doing is coming close to self-parody.

Just got finished watching "Home Front". Interesting ep. Not as strong as previous eps.

Saying that the EMP "wore off" was not the show's finest line of dialog. But maybe with the in-universe tech it makes sense.

Well, the EMP was conceptually flawed on both ends. Saying it would knock out all technology didn't hold up either, since it is possible to shield electronics against EMP, and one would assume that combat-grade hardware such as superhero tech and supervillain androids would be suitably hardened.

And for that matter, why couldn't Wally and Superboy escape from the stuff that held them? Having Wally boast that he could vibrate through it at will leaves one wondering, why didn't he? (Or has the show previously established that he hasn't mastered that ability yet?)

And are we ever going to find out what the hell that big metal sphere thing is that Superboy's adopted as a pet?

So does this mean Red Tornado has been the mole all along? Am I right that he was a creation of Professor T. O. Morrow? Maybe Morrow had a back door into his programming and has subverted him.

So we get confirmation that Artemis is Cheshire's little sister. And evidently that she isn't the mole. And it's an interesting touch that she and Dick are attending a different school from Connor and M'Gann. Better than having them all conveniently attending the same school, I guess. Although it makes sense since they're from different cities. (I assume Wally attends school in Central City.) Nice seeing Barbara Gordon as Dick's classmate.
