I'm assuming that flips down over her eyes as goggles.

Yeah the rumors (I think Batman News reported on this first) are that Selina's backstory involves her prostitute days. I've also seen that Juno Temple might be playing a version of Selina's friend Holly Robinson. I'm sure that the suit will reflect all of these traits and characteristics.

As for TDKR not establishing it's own themes...I would dispute this claim since we have got very definitive themes and motifs being explored since "Batman Begins". It is true that since this is the final film in the trilogy that it might not have time to establish it's own and would merely conclude the others but I wouldn't dismiss the fact that Nolan would introduce a new theme to explore.

Count me in the group that's disappointed by what we've seen of the Catwoman costume. The heels are ridiculous and the ears/tiara looks goofy. Maybe I should hope it's just a temp/prototype?

Scarecrow and Joker's "costumes" at least made sense; putting stiletto heels on his Catwoman's a poor choice for Nolan. And using the Batman:Year One backstory is pretty "blah" to me too; give me the Animated Series background, thanks.

What if that is her prostitute costume and the scene is early in the film when Batman is trying to get some?

See, that's why they wrote that scene in Catwoman #1!

    CW's costume looks fine.

I would actually be completely fine with this.

She looks like Catwoman to me.

I think that's what bothers me. She looks too much like a typical Catwoman. I was expecting something less mundane.

I honestly think that some people have this ingrained need to nitpick and complain about everything, since most of the complaints I've seen with regards to this film are extremely minor and trivial, and amount, more or less, to overblown hyperbolic whining.

People were complaining about how Catwoman needed ears, and now that we know - for certain - that the goggles serve as ears, they're still complaining. It's ridiculous.

I personally love the way Nolan's resurrected the old 60s 'mask and ear-piece' look, and think it actually will fit better with the Nolan-verse's overall aesthetic than a look that is more reminiscent of Michelle Pfeifer's Catwoman.

I also completely agree with JacksonArcher about people being way too quick to jump to negative conclusions based on things that, in the grand scheme of things, are extremely minor and trivial. The success of Anne Hathaway's version of Selina Kyle/Catwoman is going to be made or broken by her performance, not by her costume.

The costume isn't bad, necessarily. It is just that it is surprisingly low-key when compared to Catwoman in the comics (or at least for the last 10 years or so). I guess it depends on how it is used in the film.

On thing I am dubious about are the impractical heels given that Nolan's films strive for some sense of realism. Then again, it is all about context. And we have none here.

The trouble with commenting on set pics is that they're all out of context, and yet we still feel the need to comment on them which of course is fine. It's the judging part from fans who are on the iffy side of things that can be amusing at times. My thoughts are that if it appears to be a certain way then there is probably a very good reason why that is in within the context of the film that we still don't know anything about. We're just looking at footage and photos.

I agree, I don't think it's that bad. It's pretty much what I expected. I would like to see the goggles and her hair needs to be covered up, but I don't think it's bad though.

You do realize, your comparing an animated Catwoman specifically posing like Catwoman, with a shot of Anne Hathaway specifically not posing as Catwoman at that moment?

Because I doubt they were shooting a scene with her when that picture was taken.

Nolan's Catwoman and Two-Face look more like their comic book counterparts than any live-action version of the characters I've seen.

The costume itself looks ok. More or less what i was expecting except the high heels.
On the other hand, I don't much like the way Hathaway looks wearing it. Reminds me more of some ordinary woman, who's never been to the gym, wearing a costume than a martial arts trained, cat-like agile thief.

But, we'll see. Movie magic, editing, lighting and context are all missing from these shots.

I wonder what overlap there is between those who complained that the new Superman suit is too different from the comics and those who complained that the Catwoman suit is too similar to the comics...

I just don't think she has the body type to pull it off, personally. Too lanky.

    ^ You'd prefer a short, stocky Catwoman?

Not to mention she has great tits!
