Things we've learn from video games

A machine gun firing at point blank range at an immobile target frequently misses. (Thanks for the tip, Barret)

Humans are the poorest race in the universe. Every other alien species can afford to build whole fleets space fighters, and have enough left over for giant motherships... While we have to make due with three three lousy ships. Five if we're lucky.

Being a starship captain doesn't require common sense or a long term memory.

A starship captain can go from willing to break the rules and disobey the usual indifferent admiral in the first game to become a indifferent admiral who upholds those same rules if he is promoted and made a secondary background character in the sequel.

Every place likely has some deep dark secret.

If a character is introduced and his back story being absent then there is a good chance there is a big twist involving said back story coming up.

If you're ever hungry, just try punching holes in the walls of your house. You're sure to find delicious meat in there.

Mmmmmmm meat house....

The Sims specific: Maintaining proper health requires spending 5-6 hours a day bathing, eating, and going to the bathroom.

Getting blown up or shot hurts just as much as stubbing your toe. All injuries are equal. You'll also drop dead if you suffer 3 in a day.

If an executioner has no tools, the execution shall be carried out by biting the offender to death.

Carp are hellacious beasts of lore that can decapitate dwarves with a single swipe of their jaws.

If a dwarves' best friend is trampled by elephants, then they have a good dinner at a really nice table, they'll balance out at happy.

"Friendly Fire" actually means that you can get shot, grenaded, or artillery/air striked by your teammates and not suffer a scratch.
