Rabbit Saves Woman and Child, Woman Leaves Rabbit in Burning Building

Re: Rabbit Saves Woman and Child, Woman Leaves Rabbit in Burning Build

Preaching to the wrong asshole dude. If I never see another pony thread bomb again, it will be too soon.

Yes, but... better. :shifty:

By the by, note who didn't post a pony threadbomb. :ouch:

Re: Rabbit Saves Woman and Child, Woman Leaves Rabbit in Burning Build

In the event of a fire it's always been my understanding you get all of the people out first and foremost, especially children. I think a rabbit that "saved her" is pretty low on that list of things to save.

So, an animals life is less valuable than a Humans life?
I can tell you with relative certainty that some so called 'predatory animals' are far better in behavior when compared to some Humans.

Also, I don't agree with another poster who said that animals aren't capable of heroic acts. I think that even the media posted throughout history where pets for example saved their 'masters', doing so out of sheer loyalty to them, or because of simple instinctual basis.

Same cannot be said for plenty of Humans.

To those who don't know what J is talking about...I deleted the video I just posted. After .005 seconds of pondering I just decided it was too horrible. I don't know why I thought of it, this pony shit is like a virus or something. :brickwall:

As for the rabbit: How heroic could it be? Rabbits are not exactly the most intelligent animals on the planet. Did this thing even know what it was doing?

Does it matter?
It's actions, whether they were on a conscious basis or not did save lives.

Exactly.

^ Still, though, it's a FIRE. Is there any obligation to go back and get the rabbit if you might get, you know, burned to death in the process? There's a line between being concerned for a pet and simply being suicidal.

(I tried clicking on the link but it timed out)

It's not that she couldn't go back and rescue the rabbit, it's the idea that the rabbit isn't worth saving simply because it is a rabbit.

Had this gone the other way and someone died trying to save a rabbit when they could've stayed safely outside, I have little doubt people here would be deriding that person as a moron deserving of a Darwin Award. You just can't win.

Re: Rabbit Saves Woman and Child, Woman Leaves Rabbit in Burning Build

Sure you can. That's what all the myriad ways are for.

Sure you can. That's what all the myriad ways are for.

I'm waiting for the version where the rabbit drags everyone outside while they're still asleep. Maybe that was in American Rabbit.

No. I'd consider the loss of them both unfortunate, and that while I'd understand the person's feelings regarding the little bunny, sometimes there is no way to save them. It would be a tragedy.

Plus, I'm not a fan of the whole "Darwin Award" thing anyway.

I'm sure there's a world where, as the rabbit succumbs, he says, "I shoulda turned left at Albuquoique."

Its actions, whether they were on a conscious basis or not did save lives.
But that doesn’t mean its actions were heroic. Heroism is something conscious and deliberate — bravery, courage, disregard of one’s own safety to help others.

I mean, it’s a friggin’ RABBIT, fer chrissakes.
