From zap2it -
Spirits surface in Bon Temps; Sookie gains valuable allies; Lafayette's relationship with Jesus is jeopardized; Terry gets an unexpected visitor at Merlotte's; Sam and Luna envision a storybook ending; Debbie confronts Sookie and Tara.

The bloodbath is upon us ...

Didn't really feel like a season finale, but what a crazy ending. I dont remember the Fellowship reverend being vamped and pretty cool to see Russell possibly back.

Wow. So, bloodbath it is. So we lost Jesus, Nan, Debbie, and Tara all in one night. Jesus is the worst, because he was such nice eye candy ... Nan has become one of my favorite characters, but I felt like she was overused in this season ... Debbie, well it was time for her to die already ... Tara, that was a shocker.

It was so nice to have Gran back, and giving her something to contribute to the series too ... though it might have been a slightly nicer touch to have both her and her husband (played by Gary Cole at the beginning of the season) both taking Marnie out. Still, it was already running long.

I think the cameo by Maxine was a very nice touch. It brought out a side we haven't seen of her. I mean, for the most part, the only difference between her and Rasputia is the skin color. Here, we see something much deeper. I do wonder what's going to happen when she finds out about the rights he sold.

Speaking of returns ... It's the end of the season, and we still don't know anything about that baby or the doll, or what the hell was going on there, but Rene's back?

And apparently, the King of Mississippi is coming back. Tiffany should be scared right now.

It's been awhile, but I seem to remember in the book, Sookie killed Debbie and then Amnesia-Eric hid the body in the woods, and only he knows where it is (though other supes know something is there) ... It happened much too late here for something similar. So who is going to help her? Or are they going to drop the whole "We want our beloved daughter back and you know where she is" storyline? If so, I guess there goes the Lily Bard spin-off.

I think it ended up being marginally better than last season, but they're both miles better than that Ro Laren Gets In Bed With A Cow second season.

I don't remember Reverend Steve being turned ... I'll have to re-watch those episodes again sometime (fast-forwarding through the MaryAnn parts) to refresh my memory.

Still ... How lucky can you get? Knock on someone's door, and get that view, nekkid Jason Stackhouse? I wouldn't complain. :P

The Big Bad gets talked into quitting? Villainy pussies out!

If Kevin hadn't stopped Marnie, both Bill and Eric would be gone and we would have been spared Sookie's glorious renunciation scene. He deserved to die for that.

If they're already bringing back Russell, they're out of ideas. They could at least have done a TV version of Daybreakers.

I think doing nothing with Russell after his glorious news close up in Season 3, revealed that True Blood was running out of ideas, or at least the ability to take an idea all the way. As for the S4 finale, the first half felt a bit anti-climatic. I was expecting a bigger showdown with Lafayette/Marnie than we got.

But the second half of the show seemed a bit more interesting, with some of the new threads that were introduced, the most interesting being Russell's possible return. I wasn't expecting Jesus to go, but I thought it was diabolical how they did it, at the hands of a possessed Lafayette. Wasn't expecting Pam to wuss out, I thought she was going to twist the neck of the girl trying to comfort her. I was disappointed with Nan's demise. I really liked her, and I felt it was too rushed. That could've been a storyline for next season. I'm liking Jessica-Jason, especially Jessica in that little red riding outfit. And Hoyt's mom's eulogy for Tommy was well done. I doubt Tara is dead dead. I'm sure if she is, Sookie will use her power to resurrect her somehow.

I think it's not a good sign when the least interesting storyline was Sookie-Bill-Eric. I didn't care about that, or Sookie's decision. And I don't think its that big of a deal when Alcide is waiting in the wings.

Overall, Season 4 was an improvement from Season 3, but I can't feel that this show is grasping for straws from a creative standpoint. I think the titillation factor has worn off.

Woww. It's going to be a long winter. Kind of nice they cleaned house a bit though. Sookie without Eric or Bill doesn't interest me much but I like Eric and Bill teaming up. I gave it a 5/5 just for the deathcount in the episode.

Apart from a bloodbath during the last few minutes and naked Jessica, it was one of the worst episodes of the show. Please, end this stupid love triangle or square or whatever shit with Sookie and her band of admirers. The reason this show is successful is boobs and blood, so more of this and less complicated love triangles will do this show good.

3 fangs, for the bloodbath, naked Jessica and vampire reverend Steve. I wonder what happened to his wife, she was cute.

At least they are killing off characters, hopefully this will continue in the next season.

I think someone mentioned in one of the earlier S4 episodes that reverend Steve vanished.

Wasn't that all explained with Lafayette's possession subplot this season?

Yeah, I think it ended with that lady's ghost moving on ... The doll was hers and the baby is probably a medium too, since he saw the ghost.

3 fangs from me i'm afraid.

I wonder what the whole point of still another Marnie confrontation was.. i didn't see it. She kills Jesus (a pity.. i liked him) and puts Lafayette in the ringer with that but it could have been done last episode when they were all in the shop.

The rest was meh too.. some small resolutions until we got to the last 10-15 minutes of the episode where everything moved at breakneck speed again.

Loved Nan and the scene with Eric and Bill.. finally we see that humans don't really stand a chance against a Vampire in combat mode (leading credence to the notion that the former Queen of Lousiana wanted to die because she could have easily flee or attack before any of the guys could pull the trigger) and her death came as quite a bit of surprise. Fingers crossed for a Vampire civil war! :techman:

Pam breaking down was heartwrenching.. Eric may have lost a true ally and doesn't even know it yet (and maybe doesn't even care).

The character housecleaning.. well.. 3 secondary characters died and unless they use a magic deus ex machina to ressurect them then they're gone. Debbie was a goner.. not too terribly interesting and much less sympathetic than anyone else. Jesus's death was sad and tragic.. i liked him a lot as a character. He seemed very down to earth and fun to have around and he always kept his cool.
Tara.. well, bold choice to kill her off but understandable. She's been nothing but a victim since season 2 and has gone through so much shit that anyone else might have put a shotgun to their mouth long ago. Maybe she could have had new stories but i got a feeling the actress might have wanted to go since she played the same story for two seasons now and didn't see any change on the horizon.

The entire season was quite a rollercoaster.. the first half was very forgettable and almost boring (i just loathed puppy eyed Eric Northman) but it got into gear well in the second half only to drop again with the season finale. It felt very clunky and didn't flow well at times.. i hope they improve again with the 5th season.

I'd still like to see Rutina Wesley as a young Storm in the X-Men First Class sequel (if Storm is even in that is)

I'm surprised that so many people think that Tara is really dead. My prediction is that in the first few minutes of next season's premiere she'll get hit with vampire blood or pixie dust or something and she'll proceed to spend the rest of that season being annoying and angsty about being resurrected.

As annoying as her character was, I still liked her character, but I really hope she stays dead. She went out saving Sookie so I hope it's not all for nigh and they push the old reset button. That would cheapen it alot.

Vampire blood can only heal, not resurrect. And it seemed pretty clear by the massive head shot that Tara was dead before she hit the ground.

I gotta watch it again, but I could have sworn it was a slug shot that nicked her head, hit the glass and that hit her head.
