Tara was totally wasted this season, so I hope she stays dead. If they bring her back as a ghost, fine. Maybe then they can do something useful with her.
So, after last week (which I thought was pretty strong), this week we got crap. Just a bunch of things happening for no logical reason. About the only thing that made any sense was Marnie coming after Jesus' magic, although it's a bit strange that it was so much effort for him to conjure it up last week and then this week he just has to chant a few words and it's mask time.
Nan showing up to start a rebellion against the Authority with Bill and Eric, and then they just kill her for insulting them?
Really? I'm sure she's said much worse to them in the past. Doesn't seem like there was any point to that except shock value, and I never felt Nan was fully exploited as a character, so what a waste.
I just
do not care about Bill/Sookie/Eric. Keep King Bill; the rest can die. Eric's been an utter waste this season, with that stupid amnesia storyline.
Not sure where things are going with Jason/Jessica, but more naked Jessica is fine with me.

Jason also had that beatdown from Hoyt coming. You don't break the bro code, man.
I'm disappointed Debbie went out the way she did. A knock-down drag-out like they had in Tara's bedroom last season would've been awesome. But at least she's dead. What an obnoxious character.
Russell's back? I thought he was pretty played-out by the time they went all Mafia burial on him.
The rest was OK. Not sure if Rene was just a Halloween ghost or will stick around.
As for the season as a hole... erm,
whole: the Marnie storyline was excellent, mostly due to Fiona Shaw's performance. She completely sold it without going over-the-top (as happened with Edgington) or being too underplayed (see: Maryann). She hit it just right. The other storylines came off as distractions, a trend which started last year and seems to have gotten worse this year. Too many unrelated plot threads. Maybe with a bunch of the cast killed off, this will get better.
I am a bit annoyed that the fairy stuff from the premiere amounted to nothing, other than producing the time-jump which, in retrospect, was completely unnecessary. They could've gone forward a few months and had the same effect, and it would've made more sense. Speaking of things that were dropped: the whole Crystal/panther thing. Jason got away, Crystal's "big mama", and that's
it? Story over? Well, okay. If that means we don't see the methhead redneck hillbilly panthers anymore, I can live with that.
I like this show but I feel like the writers have completely lost it sometimes, like they don't know what the season is going to be about so they just throw a bunch of things out there and see what works. Guys, that's why you hash all this stuff out
before you start shooting. I get the impression they started this season with a vague idea of what its overall arc would be (witches vs. vampires) and then each writer does what they want with the individual episodes, with no one managing how each storyline plays out through the course of the season. It comes off very sloppy. This was easily the most unfocused season yet.
I hope they get their shit together next year, since I understand it will be the last season. Go out on a high note! And by that, I mean kill everyone.
