To me, the big problem with Superman - when you really look at his powers - is that he's got all this superspeed and yet he never uses it even though it would allow him to kick total ass.

^ Yeah I agree, which is something "Smallville" played around with in absence of flight...although they did so for too long of course, and Action Comics under Grant Morrison is making use of his super speed. It's an underused power of Clark's.

The thing about superspeed is that, in the absence of ameliorating powers like the Flash, or just ignoring it (which is, granted, perfectly fine), is that you would fuck everything around you up.

I don't get this. It seems to me that he always uses Super speed. I don't see his speed being ignored for the purposes of the story other than other power tweaks that are used. For example, Superman is just as strong as the story needs him to be and no more.

I'm sure riding a bike is dangerous! People that ride bikes at times get run over. But I guess Clark wouldn't have to worry about getting hurt because of that.
