Robocop vs Terminator. No, really, YES really! Seriously!

This is a real honest to god comic book that is half way through it's 4 issue run.

Robocop vs. Terminator.

SERIOUSLY!

WTF?

Robocop wakes up in the future with a little bit of sky net in him, which is why he inadvertently kills the last human being, so he goes back in time into the middle of the second movie, killing and replacing the T-80 to save Sarrah Connor and John Connor from the T-1000 because the future as it would have unfolded just didn't cut it.

2 issues left.

Seriously?

Is this the most fucked uppedist fanwank pitch you have ever heard?

Actually, I read a Robocop vs. Terminator mini-series ages ago. At the end, the Terminators and Robocops join forces and conquer the universe.

So no, not the most "most fucked uppedist fanwank pitch" I've ever heard.

Yeah I remember that original Dark Horse comic too.

Sure it's a cheesy idea, but I would still go see that movie in a heartbeat if they made it. Certainly sounds cooler than another standalone Robocop or Terminator sequel.

I'm enjoying it, fanwank or not.
You just have to know going in like any property crossover some liberties are at play.

I may have to dig the Dark Horse one out when I go home over the Holidays. Anyone recall the particulars of that story? As best I recall the tech that went into Robocop was a template for making the T-600/800 models along with how sentience interacted.

Pretty much. After his body is destroyed, RoboCop/Murphy's conciousness remains hidden in the Skynet system for decades, while the war against humanity takes place. During a human attack, Murphy gets the opportunity to build himself a new body. Once he's convinced the humans that he's not on Skynet's side, he helps them fight the machines.
RoboCop then builds a load more RoboCops and uses them to attack Skynet. During the battle, RoboCop is encased in a blob of flesh and sent back to his own time. He then flys off into space and destroys the only piece of Skynet hardware that exists in his time - a satellite. He then disappears, since without Skynet he never existed.

i read the comic in the UK Terminator reprints comic. and i had the Mega Drive game it was good.

there's Batman VS Judge Dredd (a couple in fact), Judge Dredd VS Aliens, Superman VS Aliens, Batman VS Predator...

somehow, no one's ever put the Lawman of the Future up against the Future of Law Enforcement in Dredd VS Robocop, though... (or that I've heard of...)

I just found out a few days ago that they did those video games. I didn't know there were also comics.

Fanwanky franchise crossovers FTW!

Well, I was watching the Robocop movies and wondered what sorts of tie-ins there were.

Holy hell, did those movies get bad.

RoboCop was pure awesome. RoboCop 2 was not as good, but still fun enough. Everything from RoboCop 3 onwards was pure unadulterated shit.

The TV series was even worse, in my opinion.
The TV series is manageable....especially after you watch ONE, just one of any of the cartoon episodes they did.

The cartoon is the worst part of the Robocop franchise. They turned Robo into a type of Inspector Gadget character. He had more gadgets coming out of his wrists, forearsm and thighs to make a swiss army knife jealous.

Yeah, but even with better writers, I just don't think there was much story left to TELL there.

The first Robocop is already such a perfect, self-contained story with all the best plot ideas already in it (origin story, Robo vs Ed-209, cops turn against Robo, Robo learns about his past, etc), and a complete character arc for Murphy that ends on the perfect note.

All the sequels could do is rehash the same ideas or try to find a nastier villain.

A couple of hilarious Terminator vs. XY vids:

I'm talking about the live-action series. I wasn't even aware they'd done a cartoon.

There are lots of those - Tarzan vs Predator, Tarzan vs John Carter, ET vs Predator vs Aliens - the list is endless.

I'm still kicking myself for not pitching Dracula vs. Predator to Dark Horse back in those days . . . .
