Quite true, that change was done back in 1997. I like the original line, it's the kind of line that reflects a bit of Luke's childish sensibilities that still carried over from the first film.
Of course, but I just mean in case Lucas ever tries to trot out the "well, I guess I suppose we could release the originals, if only I had a decent copy of the film to work with...."
I can see everybody from Fox to Spielberg pulling out their private copies and offering them up for use in that case.
Doesn't the Library of congress have a copy?
I got the Blu-rays early. I went ahead and found one change that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere. I think it works well, links the prequels with the originals seamlessly, and adds some much needed depth to what was kind of a a one-dimensional villain.

The song change in Jabba's palace in ROTJ is just mind-bogglingly awful, I cannot fathom how any human being can write, perform and animate such an atrocity without their own intestines jumping up their throat and throttling themselves in an attempt to save the universe from such an act.
But the new ending? I actually kinda liked it, with a caveat:
When you're watching the "holy trilogy" (just Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi), the original ending is best because it focuses just on our small gang of heroes and their part of the fight. It's like they're all gathered around the bonfires, they've popped open some cold ones, maybe roasting some s'mores, it's all cool.
But if you want to watch all six films together, ending with ROTJ, then I like the new ending. It starts out with our gang on Endor and the bonfires, but then it shows us the rest of the galaxy that we've come to know over the course of the six films.
It just reinforces the idea that I could deal with the changes if he'd just release high quality versions of the originals right alongside the new ones.

Agreed. The original song may not have been memorable, but it set the mood perfectly and felt like something you'd actually hear in a scummy and dangerous place like that.
The new song not only destroys that mood, but it takes you out of the movie COMPLETELY. Plus, it's annoying as fuck.

Awww, don't hate on Jedi Rocks. I mean, what huge-ass crime lord doesn't hire a pop-style lounge band to perform for him?
Ugh, I watched through the 2004 DVD trilogy the last couple of nights and, really, that scene is the worst. Pretty much everything else I can handle on some level (with the exeption of the Greedo/Han/Shot First thing) but the "Jedi Rocks" scene is just terrible.
How anyone would think that would work or be entertained by that is beyond me. The sad thing is that I know somewhere out there in the world there's some man who loves that song and has it on his iPod and must listen to it daily while driving to work.
