The Hitler one is actually what I was coming to say, minus the needless violence seeing as how you can just occupy his body and not have him commit any of his crimes; instead choosing to get a villa in the Caribbean and work on his mediocre paintings for the rest of his life (if he doesn't get thrown in a mental institution for suddenly only speaking English and having no memories, that is). Not to mention if he already has guards, the Third Reich has probably already been well-established and the road toward war could still be set in motion by one of his cohorts. Better to do it before he ever comes to power or prominence.
This is assuming that the change is permanent and not just a Quantum Leap type temporary deal.

Emperor Constantine before his conversion. I would not make Christianity the state religion, neither would I aggregate other religions into some kind of miasmic neo-pagan faith. Instead, I would totally change the trajectory of Christianity from a state empowered religious juggernaut to a quieter, gentler faith rooted in the teachings of Jesus, hopefully preventing the rise of ghastly historic events like the Crusades or brutally wicked religious leaders like Pat Robertson.

See, but would you have the same charms that make a goofy Brittish twat into a sex symbol? I kind of doubt it or you would have no interest in swapping at all. Safer to go with a classically attractive person so you can always fall back on that.

Is it temporary or permanent? If it's temporary, I'd switch with Bill Gates just long enough to transfer a few million bucks to my real self. If it's permanent, I'd switch with Bill Gates and not transfer anything to anybody.

I'd switch with a baby body, so I would be considered a baby prodigy, and I'd essentially have a longer life.
BTW Does the other person get to have our body? What happens to the other person? I wouldn't want to, lets say, donate my body to Hitler, nor take a baby's body then.

I see what you're getting at, but I'm not sure you can prevent human nature. I think it's horrible that we have gone through and have done the things that we've done. But given how messed up we (all of humanity) can be, I'm not sure how effective that would really be. I think that people who are full of that much hate and vitriol (like Pat Robertson) would have no shame about perverting anything they are given into an excuse.
I also think that when you look at the way Europe was at that time, the second any strong philosophy hits Europe, it is going to become part of the big-time intertribal warfare. Any excuse to be violent and grab territory and booty (in all senses of the word), after all.
Europe was (pre-Black Plague, which unfortunately brought temporary relief to some of the population pressure) a small continent with a large, fractured, and fractious population that was used to aggressive dealings with each other. In that regard, I would say that people who think Europe is all that different from, say, the Middle East, are missing what's below the surface and how it initially evolved into what it is now.
I think the best we can do, unfortunately, is try to be self-correcting. To speak out when we see wrongs that contradict what our principles are supposed to be, and to try to heal the damage.
As to who I would change bodies with...if we assume this is temporary, I would like to be able to enter the lives of some of my story/fanfic characters.
Though that would of course lead to my real, physical body getting committed for claiming to be a Cardassian. That said, the doctors would undoubtedly have years worth of research to figure out how the alien languages "I" spoke were so systematic and detailed and how "I" knew things that NASA hadn't yet released to the public. (Think K-Pax, but with a Cardassian.
