A newly discovered alien planet that formed from a dead star is a real diamond in the rough.

If DeBeers wants no competition at all, they're going to have to figure out a way to get rid of Crater of Diamonds Park in Arkansas.

American diamonds look a lot different than the ones from the rest of the world, but they are still diamonds. Someday I'd like to visit there just for fun. I probably wouldn't find anything but I think it would be fun to try.

Here's an intelligent answer for you, Temis.

It's not actually a planet but the remains of a star. Stars spend their lives converting hydrogen into heavier elements in their cores. My guess is this star was in the process of converting carbon (which means had already converted hydrogen to helium to oxygen and finally to carbon) and the black hole sucked up the remaining oxygen on the surface so all that remained was carbon core.

Now the star should still be in the process of converting carbon through the remaining elements until it tries to burn iron, which at that point it can't and it will explode and become a supernova.

Saying the black hole doesn't get it first.
