Pictures contest - night pics

magic-kingdom.jpg

A 1 second exposure with a flash.

The long exposure lights up the background and the flash got our faces. We had to hold still or our faces would get mushy. The camera's on a trash-can with a 10-second timer.

Shot with a Canon 7D.

To get the shot we had to do it a half-doezn times which attracted the attention of 2 confused Disney employees. They were genuinely confused so I demoed the principle to them:

They did better at holding still than my daughter did.

Those are great shots, SWC. I love the way the lighting works out. I'm guessing a standard digital camera couldn't pull this off, could it?
I'm using a Canon A590.

I'm using a Canon A590.

According to its online specs it has the important parts:

Manual shutter goes at least 1 second long.
A 10-second timer.
A flash.

I can't promise you they'll all work together, but it SHOULD work the same way with your camera.

Well, I'll give it a shot. <laugh>

<crickets>

*ahem*.

Thanks. :D

Great shots so far everybody!

So, are we actually going to vote on these or is this just for fun? I don't really care if we vote or not but I like the idea of a rotating themed picture thread.

You're more expert than 8 am :techman:Why don't you chose a few and make a pool, I don't even know how to make one :)

Here are some night pics I took at Tokyo DisneySea...

Mount Prometheus:
DSC09116.jpg

This is the centerpiece of the park (its "castle"). It erupts periodically, and houses the Journey to the Center of the Earth and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea rides.

Mermaid Lagoon Port of Call, distance:
DSC09161.jpg

A Little Mermaid themed land ("ports of call" in the DisneySea vernacular).

Mermaid Lagoon, detail:

And on a recent trip to San Diego, I had a nice bayview room and played with the settings on my camera over a few nights....

The USS Midway (which is now a naval aviation museum) at sunset:

Actually I didn't had sunsets in my mind when I started this, but starting from sunset is ok for me :)
