First looks at Jason Momoa as Conan...

Well, damn. Really, I'd prefer the actress do her own work, or just alter the scene to cut the nudity. I can look at some random chick's nakedness any time I want online. Why put in nudity for the character if it's not actually her?

Whatever, she's already been essentially topless in her photoshoots. Guess I'll live.

Next time, though...

Yeah, I have the same opinion when it comes to body doubles for nude scenes. If the actress doesn't want to do it just don't have nudity.

Wasn't there a scene in Machete where Jessica Alba was wearing underwear and then the removed it digitally so she looked naked? I haven't seen the movie yet, but I think I remember reading that somewhere before it came out.

I don't mind body doubles for nude scenes... just as I don't mind stunt doubles for action scenes.

No nudity in a Conan movie? Crom dislikes this.
Oh, I'm not saying no nudity at all, just find another actress willing to do it.

Another actress playing another character. Tamara doesn't have to be the one to get nekkid if the right actress for the part doesn't feel it's necessary. It's Conan. There's plenty of opportunity for other hot naked chicks to wander on-stage in between brutal violence, sneaky bits and bad guy intrigue, or during even.

As for stunt doubles, I don't like them. I'd rather the actor (and studio insurer) have the balls to do their own stunts. Shit like Star Trek TOS long shots of two completely random dudes pretending to be Kirk and Evil Kirk is weak. Any actor doing their own stunts automatically improves the scene from my perspective.

I like to see an actor do their stunts but I can understand a director or producers insistence on a double. It is not just the risk of injury to the actor but the entire production can come to a halt for weeks spiraling costs far beyond just the insurance and medical costs of the injury in question.

Does Momoa crush his enemies? Does he see them driven before him? Can he hear the lamentation of the women?

Candidly the '82 Conan was no piece of art. It was fun at the time, but even then it looked cheesy and the f/x were not very inspired. In all honesty I always thought it shouldn't be that hard to do it better.

I'm curious to see the 2011 version---perhaps this weekend. From what I'm hearing and seeing it looks pretty much like a more polished updated take on the subject matter, but still not high art. This is pulp material so what can you expect?

It has to be said that Jason Momoa is presently a more deft and nuanced actor than Arnold was in '82 or has ever really been in his career.

How is Conan the Destroyer? Is it really that bad? I've only seen the first movie with Arnold, which I liked.

I don't remember it all that well. All I recall is I didn't think it was as good (all things being relative) as the first film.
