Hello,
I know the chances of getting a new TV series in the next few years are remote, but I feel the way DS9 ended set up the franchise with a great storyline for a new show. I enjoyed all of the shows and movies (except for the JJ one) but I always appreciated the reality aspect the came with DS9. As a former Marine, I enjoyed how the writters/directors of DS9 gave it a military theme. I know this isn't exactly what Gene might have wanted, but I always thought it added creditability to the entire franchise. No matter how evoloved your society is, there is always going to be someone out there who see's the wealth you have acumulated and trys to take it from you. It was nice to see someone finally give Cheif O'Brian an actual military rank, he's gonna be due alot of back-pay.
Anyway, my idea for the show is to pick-up where DS9 left off, using a new cast (unless any of the originals are willing to come back for anything more than a guest role). Here are the basic premises of such a show:
The Dominion War has been over for about five years
Odo returned to his people and they spend LONG periods of time in the link (trying to convince them to stop killing everyone)
The Federation finally gets to start really exploring the gama quadrant.
With the founders mostly absent, the Jem Hedar rebel against the Vorta frequently (we allready know thet don't like each other) and manyof them begin to operate much like pirates
At some point Ben Sisko is released by the prophets (Avery doesn't want to do anymore star trek but might go for one guest apearance or a movie)
The Breen, Klingons, and Romulans also explore the gamma quadrant mostly respecting the Federation since they control the only way home
A wormhole to the beta quadrant is discovered not that far from the one leading back to the alpha quadrant. Then another is discovered leading to the delta quadrant. Everyone begins to investigate how wormholes to all 4 quadrants of the galaxy could end up in such close proximity to one another.
Species discovered in the delta quadrant by Voyager are now able to interact with those we know from TNG and DS9.
The Borg would likely be interested in a natural means of transporting ships and equipment anywhere in the galaxy instantly (even they are being pressured to become "more green" these days)
Admiral Janeway is in charge of Federation intrests between all 4 quadrants.
As you can see the possibilities for a show like this are endless (even by Star Trek standards).
Imagine what would happen if:
The Kazzon make the mistake of upsetting the Jem Hedar
The Hirogen VS the Jem Hedar
Borg VS the Breen or Jem Hedar
I don't care for JJ Abrams version of Star Trek, but hopefully the renewed instrest in the franchise will prompt Paramount to give us a new TV series at some point in the future.
What do you guys think?
