DW returns Aug 27: Zap2It.com

Yeah, I had mentioned that a while ago upthread. They'll be having a marathon of the first half of the season beforehand too. Can't wait! :)

TV Guide Canada's website goofed and said this was happening on Aug. 6 - as in next weekend. I contacted the writer and she said something weird happened in the editing and she'd intended it to say Aug. 27.

Just a heads-up for Canadians. Space has begun showing commercials for the second half of the season. Nothing to special, basically the same as the online trailers. Still, it's something.

^ Apparently, eyepatches are cool. :D

the Doctor may end the series saying something like "and to think I used to think Eye Patches were cool"

I used to think parachute pants were cool. What was I thinking?

I wonder if one of those brief shots in the AGMGTW trailer was River with an eyepatch. I was sure it looked like her at the time.

This could be ... interesting.

According to the Doctor Who News Page, BBC One has released its preliminary (underline that word) schedule for Aug. 27 to Sept. 2. And Doctor Who is NOT listed.

As the page points out, the BBC didn't confirm its airdate for Torchwood until closer to broadcast either. Though in that case Brits had to wait a week to see Miracle Day.

I can't honestly imagine the BBC not continuing with the same-day broadcasts. That would be insane... UNLESS:

They're going to wait till the following weekend with the assumption that BBC America will pre-empt Doctor Who on Sept. 3 due to the Labor Day weekend. Thereby allowing the UK and US broadcasts to synch up starting the 10th, so we don't get a rerun of what happened in the spring where the US and Canada fell behind a week.

It's also worth noting that Aug. 29 is a Bank Holiday in the UK too, so the BBC could be assuming the same rationale BBCA uses when it preempts on a holiday weekend.

That's the only rationale I can think of. Torchwood has taken a noticeable hit in the UK ratings due, most likely, to people downloading the US broadcasts a week earlier (doesn't help that the BBC is editing the show over there). I can only imagine the effect it'll have on Doctor Who. Fingers crossed this is just an omission - I can't find a link to an actual schedule grid, so there's nothing to indicate that anything has actually been scheduled in the 6-7 PM time slot. They just simply aren't including Doctor Who in the highlights of the week. For the first time?

Eh, We've seen the Brits time and again complain that BBC isn't forthcoming with their scheduling. Doesn't seem to be anything unusual about this, from what I've read from posters here, it isn't rare at all not to know a broadcast date any moer than a week or two before something broadcasts. We're jsut used to the system in America, where we start panicking when we don't know an airdate at least 2 months in advance in many cases.

I guess the British TV Format is much more maliable and easier to move things around at a moment's notice then the US format, where it's near impossible for a network to move stuff once it's all scheduled out.

Contrary to past patterns, BBC America isn't pre-empting Who on September 3rd. They're announced they're doing a six-week straight run.

the BBC will have gone off its rocker it if allows the rest of the world to see Doctor Who first. This isnt Torchwood we Brits pay the bills for the show.

Don't worry Doctor Who will be back on August 27th in the UK..................... via bit torrent downloads from the bbc america broadcast.. LOL hehe just kidding.

God, what is it with you lot. This happens every time, do you do have selective amnesia or something?

Was it even five weeks ago when exactly the same thing happened with 'Torchwood' not being listed?

The BBC don't list when it's on until the last possible moment because they don't want ITV to know.
