I like some of the feature ideas, and given that the comics are presumably assembled as layered image files, being able to turn things like lettering on/off shouldn't be a big deal, but the creator commentary sounds dull as hell. Can you imagine Jim Lee explaining his "creative choices"?

"So on this page, I drew Lois Lane with big tits because... um, well I really like big tits. Also I threw in some pouches."

Okay, this one I think has some real problems. I'm sure there's nothing the artist of Dorkman #252 would like to do after making ball-busting deadlines than talk in depth about the 22 pages that ruined his marriage, but I'm not sure they could realistically fit it into their schedule.

The main thing I keep thinking of is Scott McCloud's decade old supposition that digital comics have no page borders and that keeping to a limited 6.625" X 10.25" world has no real meaning unless there's a print version. (Although personally I sort of like the rigid structure of the page, he's definitely got a point.)

    :D

Don't know, I can't find where to get the apps from Comixology. I'd suggest you look wherever you get your Nook apps.

Not, but I might check out American Vampire later. So far I've read Batman: Year One, Green Lanten: Secret Origin, Superman: Last Son and Fables: Legends in Exile. I'm thinking about checking out Witchblade and it's spinoffs, The Darkness, Magdalena and Angelus next.

    Oy.

The whole Witchblade/Darkness/Angelus Triumvirate gives me a headache.

I enjoy the universe, but I can't keep the lore straight in my head anymore. :D

Yeah, I was reading about it on wikipedia the other day and it does sound pretty crazy. But, I like crazy mythologies like that, so I'm looking forward to checking it out.

It is driving me nuts that they don't have Powers on Comixology. I'm thinking it might be one I'll have to do in Trades.

There's a comic community called ZcultFM you should really check out if you enjoy comics. Sign up while you can, it's about to go Private/Invite only in the next few days.

I don't save 90% of the comics I read so I don't need hard copies. And the iPad screen is a great way to read them.

There is also currently, at least at DC, a series of releases of old books that I read when I was a kid (for example: O'Neil/Adams Bat titles, the Wein-Dillon JLA series) that I enjoy looking at for nostalgia purposes.

Meanwhile, the local comic book shop I've frequented for nearly thirty years is turning into a place where the books I want are sold out, the books I don't care about are filling up the rack, my ever-shrinking pull list is often screwed up and my store owner whines constantly about how no one shops there, while at the same time saying he doesn't want to waste money trying to advertise to bring in new readers.

Conversely, with my iPad and the day and date program, I can download the few books I still read from the big two and read them whenever I feel like it, including on a plane without lugging a stack of books with me.

I'm definitely moving more and more towards e-comics.

You know, I've got zero interest in the Dark Tower in itself, but someday I do want to read it, because I want to see what Jae Lee has been toiling away at for the past decade.

I miss that guy. Probably the best artist of his generation.
