Pretty new to ST but I enjoy it. I did not know there were communities dedicated to it, so I was pretty excited to find this place

    Hello!!

I'm new to the site. I've been a fan of ST for about 20 years. I remember watching TOS after school when I was pretty young and when I discovered TNG (somewhere around season 3-4) I was hooked!! I've seen all of TOS, TNG and ENT. I am working on Voyager and DS9. I own them all on DVD (movies too) except the last 2 seasons of Voyager and the TOS animated series. I'm working on completing my collection but my wife only let's me purchase so much.

I'm trying to get my wife into it as well. However, this is proving more difficult than I thought. She leans more towards Fantasy than Scifi. I managed to get her into the Stargate tv shows so I figure it's only a matter of time.

My favorite series is TNG. For movies: II, III, IV, Generations and First Contact.

I have trouble finding people IRL that share my interests so I need outlets such as this. I look forward to sharing in discussions with you all.

    LLAP

Greetings Gondul. I hope after partaking of the Trek-related boards you'll branch out! We have a pretty decent bunch here.

New here, after lurking for a bit. I'm one of the guys working on Star Ship AJAX. I'm a set builder and prop maker. I work as a substitute teacher, working with special needs kids, but I also sideline at a local theatre as their scenic lead. Married 22 years, father of two (daughter, 11 & son, 13)...a whole family of sci-fi fans!

Hi there! I'm not new to Trek, having followed it off and on since the 30th anniversary back in 1996 (goodness, 15 years already?! I can't be that old, I'm still in college!). I've been lurking around the boards the past couple of weeks, and decided the time was right to join up.

    ^Ha! I started watching in 1996 too and I can't believe that it's been 15 years either!

Greeting all you fellow Trekkies! It is great to be here While I was growing up, my parents religion did not believe in TV so instead I immersed myself in the written world. I read everything I could get my hand on and came across a Star Trek Novel at a used book store. So began my love affair with Star Trek. I loved it all but fell in love with Spock and have loved him ever since.

While in my teens we used to go to a huge flea market here in Ohio, Traders World. They always had a Star Trek booth and when I went in there I was in heaven. I bought my first Star Trek Collectibles in there and still have my Tribble (handmade keychain) and a Iridescent Spock keychain. Sadly they quit having a booth there some time ago. I really miss them.

My favorite is TOS followed by ENT, TNG, VOY, and DS9. There just isn’t any crew as awesome as Kirk, Spock, Mccoy, Checkov, Sulu, Uhura, and Scotty. My favorite characters are Spock, Data, Shran, Phlox, and Neelix. My favorite episode is The Trouble with Tribbles and my favorite movies are The Voyage Home, The Undiscovered Country and the 2009 Star Trek.

I have never been lucky enough to go to a Star Trek Convention but would go in the blink of an eye if I could.

I used to have a massive collection of Star Trek books that I had to part with a while back and I also sold my Riker and Worf doll as I had no room for them. I miss them.

Wow this turned out to be a lot longer than I meant it to be! :alienblush:

    Hi there.

This being my 1st post on this forum, I'll tell you a little bit about me.

The earliest Star Trek I can remember watching was the annimated series in 1973 or 74. Then in the mid-late 70's I began watching TOS with my sisters after school. I have been watching Star Trek in one form or another ever since.

I attended my only ST convention in about 1982.

I have seen all the movies in the theater. I remember the huge excitement about The Motion Picture (only the special effects lived up to my hopes).

My interest in Star Trek has really be rekindled lately because, at a loss for decent family programming, my wife and I started to watch TNG with our two boys (8 & 10) about a year ago and ST has now become part of our family culture. I can't wait until a ST convention comes to Minneapolis - my boys will love it.

Tomorrow is my birthday and I am hoping to get some DVD's from family members and my wife is going to buy me a tunic and pants from a custom maker.

I have been checking out this forum for several months and I thought it was time I registered and began participating in the discussion.

    Cheers.
    -John

My daughter is eight and has been raised on a tv-free diet, however she's now started seeing movies and plays video games (supervised and rationed, natch). I'm planning on watching all the Trek I have on DVD soon (and gap-filling by finally buying Voyager and Enterprise) and feel it's time to welcome her into the fold. Hopefully the experiment is a success!
