The bridge design you prefer

I always liked the bridge from the Enterprise B, and the Intrepid class.

A bridge that always intrigued me for some reason was the Brattain bridge from TNG.

The answer that always puts me in quite the minority: The Enterprise-A bridge as it appeared in TFF. To me, that is the perfect balance of the clean functionality seen in TOS/TMP and the elegance and warmth seen in TNG. Not too much of either.

BTW, was the Prometheus bridge set a redress of something? I can't imagine them spending all the money it would take to build an entirely new bridge from the ground up for a one-off appearance.

What about the Equinox bridge, Excelsior bridge, and the Dauntless bridge in Voyager?

I think the Prometheus bridge was a redress of the Excelsior bridge from "Flashback" and Equinox bridge was a redress of the Prometheus bridge :) This is how I have read somewhere.

All of the variations of the Enterprise bridge from the TOS Movies TMP, TWOK, and TSFS. That Enterprise bridge and it's mild redresses are simply my favorite designs. The Enterprise and the Reliant are of course stand outs, but the other bridges (which only seemed to utilize a small group of wall segments and the helm console) still had enough of that flavor to woo me. The only element I didn't totally dig were the pink seat covers on the Grissom (but it was the eighties and it helped to distinguish the little doomed ship). I also loved the dark lighting setup on the Saratoga redress from TVH. Even Picard's Stargazer still had enough of the original elements to remain a decent design. The stark white Enterprise-A at the end of TVH is probably where things start pushing the envelope, and the remaining TOS movie overhauls of that bridge from TFF & TUC (GEN scenes as well) are probably only second best to me.

I always liked the Prometheus class's.

Agreed. I've always liked this one too, but the Star Trek V bridge remains my most favorite.

My best understanding is that the TMP-TVH bridge set got taken by TNG and was redressed many times to become many different sets, from the Enterprise-D battle bridge to the bridge of the Stargazer. As a result, they built a brand new Enterprise-A bridge for TFF and TUC, which also got heavily redressed to be the Excelsior bridge in TUC.

I would presume that, as had been their standard practice, Paramount chose to store the TFF/TUC bridge rather than having it scrapped. And then used it to be the various bridges in Voyager that have been discussed, such as Excelsior, Prometheus, Equinox, etc.

I agree completely! Love that ship.

Then we are a minority of two. Check out my reply on page one.:bolian:

Make that three.

For a long time, the TUC bridge was my favorite, but the fact that the ambient lighting is ordinarly low on the bridge has, over time, degraded my appreciation for it. I would probably prefer physical buttons on the TFF bridge, mainly because I think touchscreen controls will never work on a real spaceship (how many accidental keystrokes can a ship stand at the helm before it tears itself apart?!?!), but the 5 bridge is a place I'd not mind being a bit.

For me, and I did give this a bit of thought it has been and always will be the TOS Bridge. Just struck me as a 'cruiser in space' kinda feel, practical and functional. Nothing overtly fancy.

That is why I like the look and feel of Sisko's Defiant's bridge it always reminded me of the look and feel of Kirk's. Though I am not a fan of ENT, the NX's bridge had a similar feel as well...

Yet those two as much as I like them..always brings me back to the original.

So that is my favorite bridge :)

TOS bridge.

Fantasy - remember the astrometrics lab from Generations?
Yeah, make that bigger.

I'm going to go with the Defiant bridge. I always thought it looked kind of cramped and utilitarian, like a submarine.

I've always had a fondness for the TOS bridge design.

I don't want counselors to have chairs on the bridge. I don't want execs to sit next to the captain. That rules out Voyager and Galaxy class bridges. The NX-01 was a functional design that I liked, as well.

If I may comment on the counselor thing, I could think of no person I would want more by my side then my CO and a fricking mind reader...

Its a pretty advantegous person to have next to you.
