Ziyal's Surgery Update

I snuck out of the house with a friend (remember, I'm officially housebound) and got my hair cut today. First time in four months! Looks good, feels wonderful. What doesn't feel wonderful is how much hair I've been shedding ever since the surgery. I know that anesthesia can do that, but doesn't it ever stop?!

Well, it's a lot things, probably. Stress, changes in body chemistry, medication, genetics, etc. My mom recently has had the same problem.

If it doesn't improve soon, talk to your doctor about it. There are lots of meds out there now that can help, not to mention that hair loss can be a symptom of other things, like lupus or diabetes.

In your case, it's probably due to your meds and all the stress you've had recently.

^No lupus or diabetes here, but hair loss can be a symptom of anemia, and I do have that. Along with the obvious stress.

Today is four months since my surgery. Celebrated by realizing that I have a UTI again (grr) and sneaking out to have dinner at a friend's anyway. First time in four months that I've been out after dark!

Have fun, you've earned it. By now you should know when to push and when to rest, so carry on.

Doing a happy dance for you and sending Zen hugs out again.

Yes, the misbehaving is definitely a good sign. Sorry to hear about the UTI, though. You might want to try drinking cranberry juice on a daily basis, awful though it is.

Thanks, everyone! There won't be any misbehaving the rest of the weekend -- I'm exhausted and a little achy from last night.

RJ, I actually started taking cranberry extract capsules a few weeks ago. Lotta good they're doing me!

Time for a new kittypic!

^

I love the look on the cat's face. You can almost hear the "take the picture already, idiot," in a Rickman-type voice.

This update may be a bit TMI, but, you all already know that ever since the surgery, I've been having major bladder and bowel problems. So... the highlight of my day... probably the highlight of the month...

I used the toilet today for the first time in four months! I still have a long ways to go before everything is fully functional, as Data would say. But this is a huge step. Woohoo! :D

Nice!!! Sorry if I'm being graphic, but the fact that you were able to choose the "when" and the "where" is excellent!!! :D
