The best episode of DS9 - Part One

Okay Trek fans, this game was successful on the TNG board, and I hope it prospers here as well. Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you play again. Not a very accurate way of determining the best episode, but a fun game nonetheless. Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Emissary
Past Prologue
A Man Alone
Babel
Captive Pursuit
Q-Less
Dax
The Passenger
Move Along Home
The Nagus
Vortex
Battle Lines
The Storyteller
Progress
If Wishes Were Horses
The Forsaken
Dramatis Personae
Duet
In the Hands of the Prophets

Well, I think the obvious first choice here is "Duet." I mean, the episode focuses on some random guest star more than it does most of the regular cast, and then after we spend all this time getting to know him, he up and dies at the end.

...

Okay, okay, I'm actually going to eliminate "Move Along Home." Why? Space hopscotch, that's why.

If Wishes were Horses - sorry, but I thought that episode was just stupid...

Darn, I wanted to take out Move Along Home! What an appalling hour of Star Trek. I guess Battle Lines gets the axe. Dull episode, blandly portrayed planet dwellers, and a pointless death for Kai Opaka.

I was gonna take out "Move Along Home"! D:

Babel. It felt like a comedy. I spent more time laughing than actually being concerned about the fate of the characters.

Taking out Q-Less. Q just didn't really fit on DS9, and this is probably his worst episode across any of the three series he appeared on. Plus, I've always disliked Vash - Jennifer Hetrick has no charisma and very limited acting ability.

I'm axing Past Prologue, because if I never see the Duras sisters again it's still ten years too early.

I might as well go again, and take out "The Passenger" for Siddig's awful performance.

Good-bye Progress. Sorry, but were we supposed to like the guest star, because he came of as an insufferable ass?

'The Nagus'

And not just 'cause its a Ferengi episode, but because ya can hear the Nagus laughin' & enjoyin' himself in the holosuites on the ground floor of Quark's bar. If the holosuites are soundproof, what's the point?!?

:cardie: :cardie: :cardie:

Good-bye Progress. Sorry, but were we supposed to like the guest star, because he came of as an insufferable ass?
Actually, according to Memory Alpha, Peter Allan Fields wrote him to be a complete asshole and thinks that he was too likeable in the finished product.

And since I'm here, I'll blackball A Man Alone for the Scooby Doo ending.

^ Hmm... interesting. Bad writing then, I guess. Because I honestly got the impression that we were supposed to like him.

I take off Vortex - my least favorite of the ones remaining.

'The Forsaken'

Because there was never another mention of Pup again.

And because Kira said "My god..." to the Emissary instead of "Prophets! Fuck if I know!"

Emissary
Captive Pursuit
Dramatis Personae
In the Hands of the Prophets

I'm removing Duet because I like all of the other ones remaining better.

Dramatis Personae was a GREAT episode. "It's a CLOCK!" -- Odo jumped back! LOL

Even if it wasn't the worst episode remaining, I'd probably eliminate "Dramatis Personae" out of spite.

Emissary
Captive Pursuit
In the Hands of the Prophets

^ And so, the rage begins. :p

Emissary
In the Hands of the Prophets

Captive Pursuit gets the boot. It's good, but not as essential to the overall DS9 story as the others.

Emissary
In the Hands of the Prophets

'Captive Pursuit' just 'cause it made Odo look like a flippin' moron for goin' all the way to Ops from his office, instead of just tappin' his commbadge.

Alright I am eliminating In the Hands of the Prophets

So Emissary is the winner!

oops, I forgot to give a reason. I love Emissary. It was a kickass beginning to the best television show of all time!

I am excited we're doing DS9. Prepare for me to get emotional :)
