Didn't see any threads on this yet.

Cool news, although it's not clear what role Campbell will actually play in it. If it IS some kind of remake, are they going to try to find a new Ash (or Ash-style character)? Or would it be better to have the same universe but different characters?

Personally, I can't think of ANY other actor out there right now who's got the same kind of quality that Campbell has...

If Campbell is playing Ash, I'll be there. If it's a remake without Campbell, or it only keeps him around in a cameo capacity, I'm not interested. There are plenty of other zombie movies out there doing just fine without having to cash in on the name recognition of a series that is so linked to its principal actor.

Last I've heard on the project it's a remake/reboot. I don't think Campbell will be playing Ash.

There has been plenty of talk in the last 5-10 years about both a remake/reboot, and a new installment. Seems every few years someone comes along with "news" about either project, and it never seems to go anywhere. At this point, I'll believe it when I see it. Although, as far as I'm concerned, Bruce Campbell is Ash Williams, so they shouldn't even bother trying to recast that role.

I'll watch a remake, even without Campbell, just to see what they come up with, but I'd be far more interested in seeing where they could go with a 4th film. It'll be interesting to see if it's a direct continuation from Army of Darkness, and if it is, which ending they'll proceed from - the present day one, or the "I slept too long!" one. I'm willing to bet it will end up in present day though, for budgetary reasons.

I thought they put an end to all those remake rumours earlier this year? didn't SR come out and say it was a follow up with with Campbell playing Ash?

I'll believe it when I see a release date.

As far as I know they scrapped the idea for a remake without Ash years ago because of extremely negative fan reaction. I doubt that reaction has substantially changed in the meantime.

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
Freddie Vs. Jason Vs. Ash Vs. Reanimator vs The Garbage Pail Kids.

You fight differently when you're older and heavier, but it's just a new sort of formidable. You can do more with one shoulder than some fuck who thinks if he cartwheels in circles, that your boomstick can't cut him in half.

Although, by this point, I wouldn't mind having seen Ash actually read and gotten on top of the Necronomicon and made it his bitch.

Yeah I don't generally have a problem with remakes, but I don't really see the point in bringing back Evil Dead without Campbell as Ash.

He kinda WAS the movie. Otherwise it's just a bunch of evil demons running around that we've seen in a hundred other horror movies.

Come to think of it, I wonder if Campbell slimming down for that Burn Notice movie was also somewhat in preparation for this...

How can Campbell not be playing Ash...I love him, he's my perfect male image... but I will still see the remake out of respect for Campbell.

A continuation just seems more natural and more entertaining, regardless of which ending of Army of Darkness they stick to.

A remake? That's dumb. Especially when the whole franchise revolves around the love of Campbell's Ash character, not the actual story.

I think a continuation would definitely be what I would prefer to see.

I bet Campbell is not up for the kind of shit Raimi used to throw at him though.

is raimi doing the reboot. I may see it then I love his movies. bruce is the only person to play ash. though I can see ashton taking on the role if he throws in a little michael kellso.

If Campbell and Raimi are only producing, I don't see the point. They can be as enthusiastic about the project as they want, but I think I'll pass.

The only thing I found remotely interesting about the first two movies was Campbell. AoD was the only one that seemed to succeed as a piece of entertainment, and a lot of that came from Bruce as well. If Campbell is in it as Ash, I'll see it. Otherwise, it just won't interest me.

Ha, told ya so, it's rare I'm actually on top of things.

I don't know if Raimi is up to throwing that kind of shit. I think it might be more a matter that he's moved on.

"Drag Me To Hell" proved to me that Raimi still atleast has it in him to make that "style" of film.
