I finally completed the DS9 relaunch!

Well, I just finished The Never-Ending Sacrifice and, with that, wrapped up the DS9 relaunch. I even read the Mirror Universe anthologies in the right location to fit in with the larger story. It's taken me since Christmas but I really enjoyed it. It's a shame to know that they've let the ongoing story sort of lapse for the past couple of years but maybe they'll come back and eventually fill in some details of the years between Soul Key and Typhon Pact.

I think, before I start with the Voyager/TNG relaunch, I'm going to take a Vanguard break. I'm anxious for Declassified but have never read SCE: Distant Early Warning, so I'm going to go back and read the entire five ebook SCE/Lovell arc starting with the Foundations trilogy, then cap it off with Declassified. Then I'll be ready to tackle (or at least start tackling) the Voyager/TNG relaunch. I'm anxious to try some of the Titan novels and work my way up to Destiny. I already have my reading list all planned out and just need to get started.

If anyone has put off reading the DS9 relaunch series of novels, all I can say is WOW! Start reading, you won't be disappointed.

Good for you man. I read some but used Beta for the rest. What are all the Lovell books? As a VAN fan, I'd like to read them.

Allow me to plug my DS9 Season 10 project, which picks up from the end of The Soul Key and provides another year's worth of stories, answering many questions like what happens with the Dominion, the Ascendants, Dax's transfer and more. If you'd like to know what happens next, I hope you'll take a look. Link in my sig!

Ah, but did you read "Reservoir Ferengi," from the "Seven Deadly Sins" anthology? It picks up from where Worlds of Deep Space Nine V3's "Satisfaction is Not Guaranteed" left off, takes place in the year 2377, and features Quark, Brunt Rom, and Gaila.

I actually haven't read it yet, but I plan to - it's supposed to be a direct sequel!

Were Quark and Rom in "Reservoir Ferengi"? I've read the story, but I don't remember them being in it anywhere.
And I don't know if I'd call it a direct sequel to SiNG, it does pick up with the characters from that story, but it features a pretty much standalone story. At least I don't remember any big connections between the stories of the two.

so you have never read any of the TNG/VOY relaunch books?

Nope, I'd taken about a ten-year hiatus from TrekLit and spent two weeks working up my reading plan, starting with the DS9 relaunch, since everything in it predates the earliest of the Voyager/TNG relaunch. Until I started reading TrekLit again after getting my Kindle at Christmas, I hadn't read anything Trek related published this millennium!

I haven't read any of the S.C.E. books yet and don't plan to until after I make it through all the other relaunches but, being a huge Vanguard fan, and since Distant Early Warning is sort of a prelude to the Vanguard series and, since the four earlier Lovell S.C.E. ebooks are sort of a prelude to DEW, I decided to read them all before continuing Vanguard with Declassified. The entire Lovell arc, to the best of my knowledge, is: Foundations, Books 1, 2 & 3, Where Time Stands Still and Distant Early Warning, all from the S.C.E. line.

Ah, but did you read "Reservoir Ferengi," from the "Seven Deadly Sins" anthology?

You're right, I haven't read that one yet. I did pick up Seven Deadly Sins a few months ago but, being so far behind, I decided to hold it off until a little later.

You're totally right, it is a shame (though understandable, considering the circumstances). But I can't see Trek authors ignoring that timeframe - hopefully we'll get something, but who knows when.

I LOVE the DS9 relaunch! When I first picked up the Never-Ending Sacrifice and found out it didn't continue the story, I was super disappointed...but I read it anyway and omg, it was amazing! It was so fascinating, I couldn't put it down. Anyone else feel the same way?

Yes, I found out while reading A Stitch In Time that I was a Cardassian nut. I loved that book in general and Garak specifically. I haven't read Hollow Men yet as it wasn't part of the relaunch but I'm looking forward to going back and reading it some day soon. Maybe when I need a nice stand-alone novel to take a break from catching up on a future relaunch.

I was seriously impressed by The Never-Ending Sacrifice. I simply loved it.

Good to see someone else make a plan to read the whole Lit-verse and tackle it nice and slow to get the full effect and all the details. Hope you have fun with the post Nemesis stuff, bfollowell! Have you decided to read A Time To...?

Yep. Once I finish my short Vanguard break I'll be delving into the Voyager/TNG relaunch. Many of you helped me put together my reading plan but, for those interested, here's my reading plan for Voyager/TNG onward.

IIRC they had a short scene at the end.

Just don't let your interest waver with "Before Dishonor," trust me, it gets much better after that one.

Children of the Storm takes place right after VOY: Unworthy.

And I believe chronologically, it's:

VOY: Children of the Storm
DTI: Watching the Clock
TNG: Indistinguishable from Magic

(At the very least, IFM has some cross-pollinization from DTI.)

Children of the Storm takes place between Chapters III and V of Watching the Clock (Ch. IV is a flashback). Indistinguishable takes place about a year after the end of WTC (not counting the epilogue).

You really should've included Rough Beasts of Empire and Zero Sum Game (in that order) in your DS9-R reading list, because they're officially part of that series despite being published under the Typhon Pact miniseries header.

Paths of Disharmony, while primarily a TNG-R novel, is also connected to the DS9-R and, IMO, ought to be read in conjunction with it. The Destiny novels should also be read, IMO, in conjunction with the DS9-R.

"Officially" is putting it too strongly, especially since, IIRC, the author of RBoE has said he doesn't consider it a DS9 novel (only 1/3 of it deals with Sisko, the rest with Spock and the Romulans). It would be more meaningful to say that both books contribute materially to the ongoing DS9 continuity.
