2011 MLB Season Discussion

Are you freaking kidding me? Raul Ibanez is 0-for-2011 and he has three goddamn hits tonight against Lackey, including a home run and two RBI! :wtf: :scream:

Braves are winners of 10 out of 12 and 8 straight interleague games. Still can't gain any ground on the Phillies. I hate this game sometimes.

It just seems like the Phillies dominate every season, doesn't it?

Meanwhile, the Mets and Nats are battling for third place. It's a nice change from either of them being last! :guffaw:

Wow. Jays chased Cliff Lee in the 8th with four straight hits, three of 'em home runs (solo shots by Thames and Bautista, a single for Lind, and a 2 run HR for Encarnacion). You don't see that happen very often.

Representing the American League in this year's Home Run Derby will be David Ortiz (team captain), Jose Bautista, Adrian Gonzalez, and Mark Teixeira (if Teixeira accepts the invitation). I'm a little surprised, actually; Bautista and Teixeira were a given, but I figured Ortiz would invite someone from one of the AL Central or AL West teams. As it stands right now, every member of the team will be from the AL East.

I do like this new format MLB came up with for the derby, though. Reminds me of how the NHL did their All-Star teams last season.

I enjoyed the Yankees-Mets series. The Mets have been surprisingly decent this year so it was actually an interesting subway series.

So the All-Star rosters have been released. Naturally, Derek Jeter will be starting at shortstop. Sometimes I wish they'd stop letting fans vote for the All-Star Game. I mean, really? Jeter hasn't done squat this year. A lot of shortstops in the AL deserve to be there instead of him.

If he's smart Jeter won't play, especially after his recent injury.

I know. Four Yankees in that starting lineup? One guy not from the AL East? Really guys?

^ Yeah, even I thought that was kind of lopsided.

Still, reminds one of the old days when Cincinnati fans voted out the wazoo and the NL team would be like 80% Reds...so they had to stop letting the fans vote for awhile.

You know when Jeter got hurt, he was still getting hits, he was 4 hits away from the team lead...In fact TWO deserving Yankees...possibly THREE were left off the team...MARK TEIXEIRA, CC SABATHIA, DAVID ROBERTSON!!

Look at his stat line and compare it to the rest of the AL starting shortstops. His numbers are strictly average.

I'll give you that he's had a bad first half, but he's had bad first halves before...last season, he had a "bad season" and had 179 hits!!! I assume he is on the team as some sort of reward, but the Yankees are loaded with talent, as I pointed out above...if it wasn't Jeter it could have been 3 other Yankees on the team.

RAMA

Dude, if he's had a bad first half, he shouldn't be in the All-Star Game. This is what I'm talking about when I say fans shouldn't vote on it. The ASG is supposed to be honoring the players who are having the best seasons, not the players with the most fans.

^ I'm watching the Fox broadcast of that game and when Conor Jackson hit that foul ball, you can hear the crowd roar for about 2 seconds and then the game goes on completely as normal. You could hardly tell anything happened.

Not like last year where that fan fell off the upper deck and everyone on the field freaked (they stopped the game when that happened).
