samsung galaxy tab: have any trek fans looked at it?

thats what I was thinking but there are some books series that just are'nt aviable on the nook. and for some reason my lap top will not down load abode reader.

As long as they're in Adobe format you can read them on the Nook. Let me DL a whole disc of Lois McMaster Bujold novels in Adobe format (I think).

I just got the Nook Color for Father's Day and I LOVE it! I had an original Nook from when they came out a few years ago and wanted to upgrade especially since I was wearing it out from so much use. I too have thought about a tablet, but have an Android Phone now and while my daughters occasionally play games on it, the apps I used most were the Nook and Kindle apps, so I really didn't see the sense of a full tablet, especially since the Nook is so much easier on the eyes. However, when I saw the upgrade in the Nook Color that allows it to basically be a "light" tablet, with some apps/games, email access and it's Flash supported, I decided to take the plunge and I can't get over how nice it is. I can access all my email, use a full web browser, have the apps I need and it's as easy on the eyes to read as the original Nook...the battery life isn't the best especially if you're on line, but I'm in my car a lot so I bought a car charger so I don't have any worries there either. It's only wifi supported, and the original nook had greater connectability, but can still access the Nook store on my phone when I can't find something because of poor connection on my Nook. If you mostly are going to use a tablet for reading and/or email, think about the Nook Color.

I have had a Kobo for ages And love it. I just got a Velocity Cruz tablet. Its good for surfing (like this) but I would't use it as my 1st choice for reading. Its too heavy, like a textbook.

It retails for $250 Android it does everything I need. Except angry birds: (

I own an original Nook and also a Nook Color. I softrooted my Nook Color and it acts just like a tablet. It runs most anything from the Android Marketplace including the Kindle app. I can read any format I want plus have loads of tablet features. B&N recently had $50.00 off the Nook Color. I'm not sure that special is still running but even at $249.00 I think it's a steal for all that it can do.

so the color can run the kindle the cool. what about down loading shows and movies?

My understanding is that rooting is generally considered a safe process, though if you opt to root a device you should accept that you have also technically voided your warranty. In my experience the only way to find out whether you'll be held to that is to engage in a situation where the warranty is pertinent.
