Firefox 5 ?

Upgraded to version 5, in the last few days. Like version 4, some add-ons don't work, but they don't really bother me. Only use a few, and have no problems with them.

Gotta agree with that.

Once upon a time, Netscape was pretty good, but got loaded down with crap, like AOL and Real Player and other built-in things.

Even with only a few add-ons, FFx seems to have reached the same point.

Tried Firefox 5 because 4.0 is so slow. Switched to Chrome, but the darn thing crashes every 20 minutes!!! Ugh. there are no good browsers left.

Firefox 5 running fine for me as well - so did 4 for that and didn't find it slow.

Do have one minor issue - I have to force a shutdown down if I forget to close Firefox before to tellingt he computer to switch. The Adobe Flash plugin crashes (and it's the only one) so I suspect it's more an Adobe problem.

But you all knew I was going to say that. ;)

I've never used this one but I've heard its pretty good

It is pretty good. I've used that one, and K-Meleon, and they're fast as lightning. They're bare bones, so don't plan on using a gob of extensions, but they are very fast, and perfect for notebooks and netbooks.

I don't have a problem with Firefox per se but the plugins like flash do cause crashes. I think the other problem is I run 64-bit instead of 32-bit.

I've found that v5 seems to have alleviated the issue of the Flash plugin crashing.

So far, 5 has been fine for me. All the plug-ins I regularly use seem ok and it hasn't felt slow. (4 seemed a little slow at times)

Firefox 5 is working very well for me. I had a few extensions get temporarily disabled, but updates came within a day. No crashes with Firefox 5. Occasionally Firefox 4 would have a Flash plugin crash, though the problem seems to have improved with Adobe updating their plugins. I don't use that many extensions, so it is possible that some have not been updated that quickly.

I went from 3.6 to 4 and 4 wouldn't run or let me switch back to 3.6, so I'm just using Chrome and Firefox can go fuck themselves.

given that firefox isn't tied in the way IE, you should have simply uninstalled firefox 4 and then downloaded and re-installed 3.6.

I wasn't that impressed with it. I did decide to try IE9 yesterday. With a few security addons, it seems to be running nicely.

Firefox 5 seems to be working fine for me so far. Ditto for 4 while I had it. I can count the number of times it's crashed on one hand. I had way more problems with 3.x, oddly enough. Seems like my experience is the opposite from most other people.

I'm very careful with malware and viruses so i scanned my pc several times and its fine...I am using Firefox 5 exculsively now, and there are far fewer crashes.

From your list of problems, the fault is either with your pc or with some of the extensions you are using.

I went over to chrome a while back and only make use of firefox when I need to use Zetero. I particularly like the fact that my bookmarks and extensions sync between machines - I know that firefox will do some of that but as an Android user and someone who uses a lot of google products it makes sense to keep it all "in-house".

The only thing I've never understood - why is there no chrome browser for Android? why is it "browser" which is developed by a different internal team at google?

So is anyone using Firefox 6 Beta yet? It just installed on my system.

^ Yeah, I love it when one software developer decides to completely alter the way release numbers have been done for 25-30 years.
